Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Ask the sommelier at your favorite wine bar--we just about guarantee he'll recommend an opener of this type for any personal wine cellar. A simple folding gadget, a corkscrew with a leverage arm on one side and foil-cutting blade on the other, it's about the size of most pocketknives. It may take some folks an off-the-record attempt or two to fully get the hang of the motion (turn, use leverage arm, turn again), but with a bit of practice, you'll find broken or stuck corks a thing of the past. Careful with the blade--it's meant for cutting foil, but does a dandy job on fingers, too. --Jill Lightner

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks=10 ... Works=4, February 17, 2001

I open dozens of bottles per week, more than most folks I'd guess. And I had just lost my long-time favorite waiter's corkscrew, and bought one of these because it looked good and professional. It still looks good and professional, but the worm bent after just a couple of tougher pulls, and it will never go in straight again. I'd buy this to look at, but not to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor quality product, December 28, 2001

I have at least 6 of this type of cork screw. This is the poorest design that I've ever seen. The fulcrum, the piece that folds out to expose the corkscrew, is made of soft plastic. After a few uses the end gets damaged and provides a poor point to lever the cork out.

This is not even worth the low price.

I threw mine away after a few uses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, September 16, 2002

We love this corkscrew. I'm not sure why the negative ratings before---perhaps they got a faulty one. It works wonderfully and lasts! I am a server and use it constantly. Have had many compliments on it at the restaurant by other wait staff and the sommelier.
