5.0 out of 5 stars Toy... But fun as heck!
This little RC plane/boat/vehicle is great!

Easy to control, even for a beginner as it has two control levels to make it more intuitive depending on your flight experience.

It goes on the land (short grass, asphalt, dirt, etc), water, and flies taking off from the previously listed media. If you just want to fly you can make your battery to last...

3.0 out of 5 stars Storm Launcher
The remote conrol is very difficult to manuver and master. The blades break easy and are hard to change out. The toy is very fun and can do amazing things once you get the hang of it, but it takes a lot of practice. Hence, you need to know how to fix it before you can fly it well.

This little RC plane/boat/vehicle is great!

Easy to control, even for a beginner as it has two control levels to make it more intuitive depending on your flight experience.

It goes on the land (short grass, asphalt, dirt, etc), water, and flies taking off from the previously listed media. If you just want to fly you can make your battery to last longer by hand launching it.

Very durable, other than these small issues:
- Propellers aren't that durable. However, you can buy replacement propeller sets from Spin Master (1-800-622-8339) for $2.95 + $1.95 s&h.
- Motor screws that hold the motors in their housing and the propeller guards to the housing come loose and could get lost easily (make sure to tighten them).
- Elevator (rear flap) is not made of the same foam as the rest of the Storm Launcher so it is less durable. If you do crash it, just super glue it back together and use thin packing tape to skin over the repair.

Overall, I give this little RC "toy" 4.5 out of 5 stars. Minus the half star for the propeller, motor screws, and elevator (rear flap) issues.

I tried this thing in the pool a couple times and it works perfectly but when I tried to fly it, once it took off it started going up side down and I had no control over it. When it hit the ground it just blew apart. The elevator fell off, the prop was cracked apart and this thing was unusable.

First off, the SL is not very durable. My first SL broke beyond repair. If you take the time to learn how to drive it and slowly make your way to full flight it will last much longer. If you don't learn the basics first and immediately try flying, your SL won't last long. It has a lot more power after taking the prop guards off so I hope you learn how to fly quickly. My skill level has improved to the point where I'm not worried about breaking the new one.

I have five yellow SL's and one orange. Smooth flights till left motor started to weaken. I changed the motor with a better one from my yellow SL and it works great. My trim is almost in the middle and not to the extreme left of right. If only there were replacement motors, Air Hogs would have one good unit. I am modifying some of my storm launchers with brush less motors and hobby grade electronics. One SL, I installed the Johnson 250 motors. There are options when things go wrong with the SL. People always wonder what I am flying. They never seen something like the SL. I'm ordering another SL. Even though brush less is better, it is costly and time consuming. I like flying the stock SL. It's simple and flies excellent out of the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars CHEAP! CHEAP! CHEAP!, October 7, 2008

This product comes pre-assembled, however will become dissasembled before you get it off the ground for the 1st time. Everything is held on by tape, which does not hold long/ The battery dies within 2mins & does not lock into place very well, which is important with a flying toy. I got it off the ground twice before the battery was so worn it would barely budge/ once in the air it is uncontrollable & the motors cut out periodically for some reason (Cheap quality I figure). Good luck landing it when the motors are locking up (more then likely going to nose-dive). Save your money! Oh, I gave this 5 stars on educational, because that is the only was I could classify this purchase (a learning experience).
