5.0 out of 5 stars This game got me hooked on Playstation again!
This high-tech, old-fashioned, war-comedy, strategy game is the best. Even if you complete all levels (after several months and several hundred hours), you can get into multiplayer games. Me and several addicted friends get together every sunday night to have tournaments. And we're all adults!! You can customize your three to five hog army as well as design fields of...

2.0 out of 5 stars IT FLATOUT SUCKS! 3.5 OUT OF 10
At first it seemed like this game was going to be fun, then you see it's disastrous gameplay unfold and unleash the hell that lies beneath it. To start off the controls freaking suck to a large extent. When aiming your sniper rifle for example, you will notice how it won't seem to stay on target, like it's being weighed down by something heavy so aiming for your target is...

This high-tech, old-fashioned, war-comedy, strategy game is the best. Even if you complete all levels (after several months and several hundred hours), you can get into multiplayer games. Me and several addicted friends get together every sunday night to have tournaments. And we're all adults!! You can customize your three to five hog army as well as design fields of play. The game is turn based, move (in real time) an individual hog, choose weapon, aim, set angle and power and let errrr.. rip. You don't get tired of this game, you only get better. Awsome game where up to four players can compete against each other. We need more games like this!!!!! TRY IT AND GET ADDICTED. (No real animated violence parents)

5.0 out of 5 stars Surrender now or perish!!!, December 6, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hogs of War (Video Game)
This game is the best i've played on the playstation console ever. Period. You see other reviews, complaining about the speed of the game, but for me is like playing a really fun match of chess! You plan ahead, three or four moves, yet the enemy will not react as you expect, thus, you will be diverted from your target, and if not careful, land on a minefield and die!!!
The other side of the story, the multiplayer mode, is as fun as they come, but the negative reviews say that as well, so it's unanimous.
ONE FINAL WORD FOR INFOGRAMES: IF SONY DOES NOT WANT THE SEQUEL FOR THIS GAME ON PS3, MAKE IT FOR PC OR XBOX360, AND I, LOYAL FAN WILL BUY IT THE MINUTE IT HITS THE STORES!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars More I want More, April 7, 2003

How is it that a game of this pure enertainment quality has not been improved on by the folks at Sony is beyond me. It is the perfect game that appeals to both young and old, the experianced gamer and the novice, the individual and the group. How can you not enjoy yourself as you wander around reaking havoc on your friends pigs. Give us more Sony, forget Grand Trisimo 4,5,6 don't care about So-com. Hook me up with Hogs of War 2, and let the squealing begin.

4.0 out of 5 stars Train them Porkers, February 6, 2002
This review is from: Hogs of War (Video Game)
You are on a mission. You and your fellow piglets must take out the enemy in a turn based game. You have a choice of teams based on countries, various weapons and one order. Wipe them out before they do you. There are numerous missions and towards the higher levels it can be quite tricky to win, so has many hours of playability. It's not bleeding snouts and hanging trotters though, this is a fine comedy game with the excellent comedian Rik Myall providing all the voices (deliberately badly and over the top). It is meant to be fun, it is not a serious war game, but watch that little piggy limp up the hill and I dare you not to laugh. So easy to master, so hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars We have met the enemy and they have our Swill, March 26, 2002
This review is from: Hogs of War (Video Game)
This definetly sounds like and an absurd concept now doesn't it, we take a WW2 scenario, and throw in 6 pig nations. These nations represent Japan, Britain, USA, Germany, Russia, and Italy. Each nation has is basically the same but are greatly steroptyped. Thus the humor comes in.

The gameplay is wonderful in itself, mostly because like any good stradegy game it progressivly gets more and more difficult. In the end you fight the hidden Pink team which holds the swill. Int hat fight you must also face off against all the five other nations eliete Hero. that is no easy task. this game also features a pretty fun multiplayer option as well.

In the end this is worth looking into.

5.0 out of 5 stars Born to Grill!!!, March 10, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Like most people, it took the nagging of a friend to get me to play this game. Shortly after playing and inevitably getting quite hooked, i find myself not only buying the game... but also in the absence of having a Playstation - I end up deciding to buy a Playstation, JUST so i could play this game!!!
Hogs of War is tops... one of the best games i've ever played in the 29 years of being a gamer.
Whats better? It's just been confirmed that Infrogrames ( authors of HogsofWar ) is creating the sequel, Hogs of War II. release date TBA. YES!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastically funny game, August 24, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hogs of War (Video Game)
Possibly my favourite Playstation game - perfect for gamers and non-gamers alike.

Easy play control, with difficulty levels ranging from a walk in the park (at the beginning) to horridly difficult (the last level; expect to need to use sneaky tactics to get by it).

This game is funny too - there are so many levels of jokes in it, referencing so many sources (real life, various films, books, comedy shows, etc...) that everybody will be laughing for different reasons.

Best played multi-player (and the nature of the game allows you to play four-player mode with only one controller!)

5.0 out of 5 stars best game in the universe, March 10, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hogs of War (Video Game)
Hogs of War is the only game I have ever been hooked on, and this one I have played over and over more times than I can think of! The first time I sat down to play it, I ended up spending 11 straight hours, and for what it's worth, I have never been huge on games, I would get into them for a bit, and move on but this is the best game I have ever played, and even when finished it's something I start playing all over again.

The gist of the game; it's war time, islands are being occupied by enemy pig forces, and you have to pick a team of five pigs, assign them different weapons, as there are choices of sniper, bombardier, medic and my favorite the engineer. When you complete each island mission ( there are 5 islands and 5 missions on each) the levels get harder and more money is awarded for beating the enemy, if you don't lose any of your team mates, extra rewards are given and rank can be increased. When money is given at the end of each win, you can raise your pigs in rank, give them more life points and increase their weapons, making for more fun!

The graphics are simple and fun some action is on forests, deserts, ice patches and trenches, some is at night and most during the day, there is no incoherent surroundings, no struggles of figuring what to do next and most of all the games it insanely fun to play. The team I play and the enemies each have life points, and each weapon takes those points away. It's a bit of math, but extremely easy and makes for some fun tactics and tricks to be played on the opposing forces. Also the pig soldiers say the funniest things, based on what nationality you choose and play against, I have laughed hard at some of the jokes.

Least but not least, when two players mode is engaged, the game options change, there are all new levels to beat, and they are very fun! I am always looking forward to playing against some of my friends or even the computer to beat them at these adorable challenges. I love the game, and can't imagine not playing it over and over.
