5.0 out of 5 stars Best 15 bucks you can spend on your XD
I have the XD .40 S&W and this grip "fits like a glove"

I don't know what to say...I love my XD don't get me wrong...but after feeling this grip on the gun I feel like Springfield Armory really dropped the ball on the XD's grips and Hogue picked up the slack.

Really durable and snug...I just LOVE this grip!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice feel, but a bit squishy
I bought this grip for my XD40. I have very large hands, and I was looking for something that would help it fit my hand better. Previously, I had been using the adhesive/sand decal grips.

It took a little work to get the grip on, but not too bad. I liked how the tab fit right into the recess of the gun to prevent the grip from sliding up over the grip...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hogue Handall Grip for Springfield XD, January 10, 2011

This review is from: Hogue Handall Hybrid Springfield XD9 9mm, 40S&W, 357SIG Grip Sleeve (Sports)
Installed on Springfield XD9 Service Model. Perfect fit, does not interfere with backstrap safety. On the bottom of the Hogue grip there is a tab moulded from the rubber that fits into the opening on the bottom of the backstrap near the mag well on the XD grip. This keeps the grip from ridding up and interfering with the backstrap safety and also adds a more finished look by covering that opening.

It makes the grip quite a bit fatter, which is what I wanted, but if the user has small hands this may not be what you want. I really like that is provides a 'palm swell' area to help fill my hand when shooting.

Quality product.

Tip: you can clean these rubber grips from time to time with window cleaner and it seems to remove oils and such and restores the tacky feel of the rubber.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good grip - for some people, October 17, 2011

This is a good, quality, grip and fits very nicely on my XD-9 (4in). Only issue I have with it is that the base of the grip (where my pink rests) is a bit wider causing me not to have a good one hand grip. I have fairly large hands (wear large to x-large size gloves) and my pinky rest in front of the grip. This isnt a problem with two hand shooting, but takes a bit getting used to with one hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Day 1 Review, January 31, 2012

I have been using Hogue grips on my Glock for over 10 years. It fits very comfortably and shapes right to the palm of your hand. I recently got my Hogue grip for my Springfield XD-9 today. I have previously tested the universal Hogue grip (the one intended for the Glock) on my Springfield XD. It fit, but it disabled the rear grip safety by covering it. This new grip by Hogue addresses that issue perfectly. The grip fits right over the pistol and a little notch is intended to fill in the space behind the magazine well. This locks the grip in place so that it won't ride up and cover the rear grip safety. It feels almost like the Glock grip. It fills the palm of your hand nicely without adding significant bulk. The finger spacers are perfectly sized and the whole thing feels like a glove. The tension and the plug should hold the Hogue grip in place nicely. No shifting or rotating.

NOTE. This is designed for the Springfield XD, NOT the XDm. The XDm does not have the space behind the magazine well. In addition the XDm has a taller grip. This grip is not readily compatible with the XDm unless you are willing to cut it and let it freely float.

Thing thing is awesome. Turned out way better than the Pachmayr slip on that I had purchased previously. it fits nicely, feels substantially better than the other one. put 150rnds downrange and it didn't budge at all. i was practicing with snap caps and the pachmayr would ride down over the frontstrap and squish all over the place. 5 stars for an awesome product. hands down. p.s. this is for a full sized grip, not for you compact or sub-compact guys. so literally the xd9, xd40, and associated varients. fits perfectly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice feel, but a bit squishy, December 31, 2011

It took a little work to get the grip on, but not too bad. I liked how the tab fit right into the recess of the gun to prevent the grip from sliding up over the grip safety.

However, I found that the grip was a bit too 'soft' -- it felt squishy in my hand, and didn't leave me feeling like I had very rigid control of the gun. I'm taking it off and putting the adhesive sand grips back on.

2.0 out of 5 stars not what i needed after all, December 23, 2011

This review is from: Hogue Handall Hybrid Springfield XD9 9mm, 40S&W, 357SIG Grip Sleeve (Sports)
I fell in love with my XD about 4 years ago and have had it as my primary carry since then. Loved everything about it, except in the past year or so I'd noticed that the original "bite" of the textured grip was going away and that I was having to readjust my grip after drawing my gun almost every time. I wanted a positive gripping surface to keep my hand in place from holster to shoot.

I had shopped around for someone to put a stippled texture to my grip but found that the pricing ($125+) was too much. I got this instead to try it out. After carrying it for a week, I found that the added bulk (XD is already a fatty) to the grip was something I did not want to live with. It also tended to catch on clothing more.

I finally tore it off and spent a couple hours researching DIY stippling. Then settled in with my soldering iron and a glass of scotch to texture my own grip. I started on the magazine extended grips for practice hten put a texture on the whole grip of my gun. Very happy -- much happier than with this Hogue sleeve. I won't buy a sleeve again for any of my handguns. I do love their rifle stocks though...

This sleeve is a wonder. It fits the pistol very well and gives you a near perfect grip in your hand. Buy it you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a difference, November 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hogue Handall Hybrid Springfield XD9 9mm, 40S&W, 357SIG Grip Sleeve (Sports)
First off: I am using this on a Springfield XDM .40 which it is not specifically designed for.

There is a little tab inside the grip that you will have to trim off if you have an XDM series pistol. Not a big deal though, you just have turn the grip inside out and take a sharp drywall knife and trim the tab that is on the inside of the sleeve so it sits flush. Took me less than 5 mins and I was being "careful".

I would suggest trying it with the medium grip extension that comes with the gun first as this would be a pita to get back off again. I am using the large grip extension underneath and it took some time to get it "perfectly in place" but it ain't going anywhere. Do not try to get it all up at once either. Take your time and work it up slowly, moving from one side to the other and back again.

I am amazed at the difference this makes on the overall feel of the gun. Night and day from stock grips. The feeling when I hold gun is way more "solid". It feels right in my hand and trigger pulls feel much more natural. (I think that overlooking the palm swells are the only thing Springfield missed on the XDM series.)

Regardless, I spent about $9(shipped), got the part in the mail in 3 days. I spent 5 minutes retrofitting it and am completely happy with my purchase. I can't wait to see how it does on the range later this weekend.

If you are "on the fence" about this, think of it this way: In one day you spend more than $9 on coffee and lunch. This grip is the real deal and is totally worth your $9.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for XD 45 too. Sort of., October 27, 2011

I bought this grip sleeve for my XD45 Compact, knowing it was not specifically designed for that pistol. It was no surprise then that while the diameter of the sleeve fit the XD's grip nicely, the length of the grip sleeve was too long. If you position the grip sleeve so it does not interfere with the grip safety, it will extend about a quarter inch beyond the bottom of the grip. Carefully trim the excess with a razor and it will work fine, and not interfere with the mag.

As for the ergonomics of the sleeve, although it's an improvement I find the rubber to be a little thicker than I would like, particularly in the area where it contacts the palm. I'm going to give it a while, and a few trips to the range, to see how it works out. For the price though it is a worthwhile addition.
