5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
Customer Video Review     Length:: 0:36 Mins
This was my first wooden recorder and it was great value for money. It sounds so much better than the plastic recorders, even the good ones such as the Yamaha 300 series. Pity it doesn't come with a better bag or case. It is just a transparent plastic bag but the recorder is well worth the price. You should also remember that wooden recorders...

3.0 out of 5 stars Plays nicely; finish hides the wood
I just received the recorder so can't speak to its durability, but it plays nicely and in tune and the price is right. I don't detect any real difference in tone or playability from my plastic Yamaha 302B, although the Hohner seems a little more slippery. I was disappointed, however, to find that the finish is opaque, so you can't see the grain of the wood. I'd prefer...

Pity it doesn't come with a better bag or case. It is just a transparent plastic bag but the recorder is well worth the price. You should also remember that wooden recorders require extra care. If you are just buying a recorder for a young kid, you're better off with the plastic ones.

This recorder has a nice design, more streamlined than the typical recorder. It plays in tune, and sounds as good as my more expensive plastic recorder. All the notes can be hit, and the smell and taste of the wood add to the experience. It is made in China not Germany but it is handsomely made. Would be excellent for people who want a wood recorder for period reenactments. Well worth the cost, I plan on buying another as a back up.

My 13-yrs old daughter wanted a better recorder than the cheap plastic one she had for several years. I decided to go with this wood recorder and have not been disappointed. I also bought her a teach yourself recorder book and she has been playing some beautiful music. This was a great purchase!

I purchased this recorder for my nine year old daughter as a Christmas gift. She did not specify a recorder made of wood, but I thought it was a nice step-up without being too pricey. It is beautiful, sounds nice, and she loves to tell her friends that it came from Germany. It is a beautiful instrument to look at and to hear.

This recorder plays well. It comes with detailed instructions on how to care for it, and helpful advice on how to begin. It takes a few short practices of 15 minutes over a couple days for it's true sound to develop since it is made of wood rather than plastic. It's a classy recorder for a great price. It's packaging could be better, the plastic sleeve it came in is broken at the bottom and we will have to find another way to store it.

As far as music goes, hohner always has good products. I am a music student at Indiana State and needed a recorder for one of my classes. I find the thing funny and serious. It has a good sound for such a cheap instrument. buy it. and play medieval music.

I'm very impressed with the recorder. I learned on a plastic model, and this sounds many times better. Highly recommended.

A little damage during shipping but none to alter performance. Has break in period. Follow instructions and sounds will be even sweeter.

I bought this recorder for my 13-year old daughter, who likes to play recorder and wanted something better than the plastic toy recorders. The sound of this Hohner is clearly better than that of the plastic ones, it's easy to play and pretty good-looking. So, i think it's a pretty good deal at about $20.

This is a good recorder, especially for the price. The wood ones have a great tone that the resin ones cannot compare with. It is a soprano recorder so it is pitched high, but the finger spacings are easy and the product itself is quite decent. This is a great beginning recorder to get used to woodwinds and reward yourself with easy playability.
