I teach music to children ages 18 months to 5 years. I can absolutely say that children love this and never get tired of listening to it and watching the colorful beads fall. The younger ones seem to be hypnotized by it. I'm not sure how long some of the kids would play with this before tiring of it... it seems like they would never tire of it. As a music teacher, I think that the sound is nice and the size of this rain stick allows you to experiment with creating "slow rain" or "downpours." This instrument is a must-have for any music classroom or for families that wish to enrich their child's life with music.

This rainmaker is great. I know this is not a child's toy, but my 8 month old son absolutely loves it. He screams in excitement whenever it makes its sound, he even holds it and switches hands.

I purchased this for my 4 year old sister with Down Syndrome for Christmas. Overall it is a decent rainmaker but she really doesn't seem to be interested. My 1 year old daughter likes it a bit more than her 8" one I bought for her. The quality seems to be pretty sturdy but again we've only had it for 4 days. My suggestion would be to but a real one made of wood if you're going for the sound, if you're going for looks this is pretty for a baby.

My friend had a smaller one of these and my daughter was fascinated. So I ran home to order one for Christmas. It is a great toy but to heavy and long for a one year old. She hit herself in the head several times and was not able to play with it as effectively as she could the smaller one.

I purchased the 16 inch plastic rainmaker, and the shorter one. It's colorful, and the beads make the sound of rainfall. On a hot day, you can hear a gentle rain or a down pour. Play the rainstick with your Bossa Nova, or just let stress fade away to the sound of gently falling beads.

I bought this rain stick for my 9 month old daughter, and she loves it! Even though it's tall she's able to maneuver it enough to get it to make noise, and she is completely fascinated by the pleasant sound and colors. It's also not too annoying for hubby and I to hear over and over while she plays with it, and it is nice for her to chew on as well, because let's face it, she chews all her toys.

My 7 month old son loves to play with this toy. He is mesmorized by it when someone flips it for him, or he has just recently learned that he can roll it with his hands or feet. Provides hours of entertainment.

I bought this for my son's first birthday. He is blind and this toy is amazing for him. It makes noise, but a pleasant one. It also has a prism effect on the plastic creating pretty colors. It's huge too...which is why I love it...long lasting rain sound. My 5 year old son also loves this toy. Awesome!

My son is on the spectrum of autism and he loves this toy. It helps with his sensory need and visual stimulation. This is a neat toy and the whole family enjoys playing with it and hearing the realistic sound of rain.

The item itself is very well made, but unfortunately it goes unused for the most part. I recently purchased it for my 13 month old for Christmas. I thought she was going to love it; however she barely plays with it. She probably goes over to it twice a week and flips it over once then walks away. I've tried to get her to play more with it more by showing her how to roll it on the floor as well flipping it over and over for her, trying to engage her with it, but still she's not fan. If I could go back, I would not have purchased this item for her. She has older siblings who also have not shown any interest in this.
