This is the original unit with brushes that really pick up the dirt. It is made the same as it has been for many many years and still does the job as well as always. This is the model to buy. If you buy the one with rubber blades instead of brushes you will be sorry. Stick with the original.

This Hoky replaces the original bought decades ago. With one exception, quality is every bit as good. The exception is the handle, which comes in two pieces for compact packaging and shipping - it it makes using it just a little wobbly. Not a deal breaker, just not quite as good as the original. The rest of the mechanics are rock solid and it really cleans. I will get one for my office, too!

I had never heard of a "Hokey". When I was visiting my sister, she was babysitting her "granddogs". She had a little dog hair on her carpet, so she grabbed her "Hokey" and just swept it right up. I was so impressed with the way it worked that I ordered one immediately when I got home.
She also ordered a new one for herself (her's is about 20 years old)and one for her daughter.
Sure beats getting the vacuum out for a small job. I LIKE it!

Does a pretty good job when you just need a quick clean-up in a small area.

All growing up, my grandmother had a Hoky. It was a puke yellow color and it was awesome. 10 years into my marriage and 4 kids later... I was searching for something to do a "quick pick up" on my area rug. I somehow stumbled across the memory of my grandmothers carpet sweeper. My whole downstairs is hardwood, and I hated hauling my vacuum up and down the stairs (almost daily) just to clean my area rug. Now don't get me wrong... I still do a thorough vacuum once a week... but with my littlest guy just starting to crawl... I was in need of something I could pull out of the closet, vacuum, and be done, in 2 minutes or less. THIS WAS THE TICKET! It's easy enough my 4, 5, and 7 year old to use. It picked up small rocks, cereal, lint, hair, wrappers... it is great! I was nervous about spending $40 on this baby... but I am SO GLAD I did!!! Totally worth it!!!! Now I can have a freshly vacuumed look ALL DAY LONG, and not worry about my baby putting something into his mouth!!!!!!

I was looking for a quiet vacuum alternative or keeping a perpetually fiber-pilling wool rug in our house from looking grungy. My dad suggested this brand because he had bought a Hoky over 30 years ago (model 23A!) that still was going strong today. Not sure if this one will last as long (it seems like things aren't made like they used to be), but it definitely works VERY well. It's so good, I started using it on our hard wood floors as well in place of our shedding broom or loud, clunky vacuum cleaner. Rotating brush design is really simple and the whole thing is easy to clean. No, I'm not a shill for Hoky, just a customer who wants to make sure this awesome product is still around for at least another 30 years. Very good, well-made cleaning product that is very quiet and uses no electricity.

I am very pleased with the sweeper. It works much better than a Bisell I had previously purchased--brush kept falling off. I have not had that problem with the Hoky. It picks up crumbs, lint, cat hair, and almost anything that is not stuck to the rug. It does a fair job of picking up dirt from hardwood floor, but I bought it for sweeping the carpet and it does a very good job there.

Easy to put together. Generally works well. I use it at work to keep the carpets looking good between cleanings. You do kind of have to "push it fast" in order to pick up some smaller items or they don't get picked up properly.

I have never used it on a bare floor, only on short carpet.

Product is ok for light pick-up, bought product because I used a much older version and it really worked great. This one is not so good at picking up as the older version. Kept Hoky for light floor pick-up.

We simply love the two Hoky's we purchased! We highly recommend this product.
