A catchy Thompson Twins remake...yet still no airplay.

The decision making for the single releases from Lasgo's sophomore release "Far Away" has been just awful. The catchiest tunes on the CD have still remained nothing more than album tracks, while songs like "All Night Long" and "Lying" have been released as singles with forgettable remixes! And now, we have their cover of the Thompson Twins, which should get radio airplay if any of their singles should, but hasn't, in part because it's just too straightforward a house cover version with no originality.

The original CD version has the catchiest elecro house hook. The "Summer mix" has some nice synth chords sustaining throughout, but it has no punch overall. "Basto Bootleg mix" is more of the same, but the bass line is very plunky and too prominent in the mix, so it sort of gets annoying. Even Giuseppe D's mix doesn't bring any of his usual momentous big room sound to the mix, yet he definitely captures the tone of the song best, with a laid back, perfectly blended mix of bass, rhythm track, and synth filler--second best version after the original mix. Basto's Wonderland Mix is much better than Basto's bootleg mix, and like the Guiseppe D mix, flows nicely. It is a VERY soft house track that actually reminds me the most of the tone of the original Thompson Twins version, and features a melodic rhythm guitar sound.

The other thing to note is that all versions run under 4 minutes except the Guiseppe D mix, which is five and a half minutes. So this isn't a package of long extended remixes.
