A moody jazz and blues collection that comes alive,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hold It Right There (Audio CD)
Chris Cortez's new CD album, Hold It Right There, is a moody jazz and blues collection that comes alive with the full flavor of New Orleans. Ten fluidly sung numbers with vocals and three instrumental pieces comprise a rhythmic, toe-tapping whole. The tracks include Hold It Right There (3:31), Lullaby Of Birdland (3:17), Ain't Misbehavin' (3:18), All Right, OK, You Win (3:01), Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight (4:31), Jordu (5:27), Tico Tico (2:49), Stormy Weather (5:24), Cloudburst (3:09), Benny's From Heaven (3:48), Way Down Yonder In New Orleans (3:12), Red Top (3:09) and The Best Is Yet To Come (4:02).

Jazz guitarist releases new CD "Hold It Right There",
By A Customer
This review is from: Hold It Right There (Audio CD)
Chris CortezHOLD IT RIGHT THERE This is a versatile guitarist and vocalist who has created stunning arrangements of a dozen or so jazz and blues standards. Chris harkens back to an earlier time, the first half of the last century, when jazz was evolving out of the Big Band sound, but tight musicianship and great solos were still predominant. This is a great CD that will be one the whole family can enjoy.
