Easily one of the top albums of 2002,

Elk City has the uncanny ability to take genres from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's and put them together to sound refreshingly original and not dated. Elk City could be described as an alternative band with a slight punk influence, having musical talent remniscant of Jimmy Hendrix, Tom Petty, and Neil Young. Reneé LoBue has a voice and personality that are at times as much fun as Kate Pierson (B52's) and as sexy as Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star). The guitar work is superb, particularly the tracks entitled, "Rosemary" and "Kmart." This is an album that you'll listen to 100 times in a row, then get temporarily sick of it, rediscover it 6 months later and love it all over again. It easily deserves a five star rating.

this album is BRILLIANT.BUY! BUY! BUY! a record that makes life worth living....that much more. no kidding. (and insanely beautiful melodies..and a voice,in Renee,that MUST be heard..to be believed.) I could go on..I should go on..but I have to hit 'repeat' now.
