Editorial Reviews

"The Holes in the Ozone Scare reveals in well-documented, stark detail how science is being misused to achieve political ends. Everyone interested in the so-called global environmental issues should read this powerful book, and then consider whether press releases and computer simulations that are unaccompanied by solid scientific evidence should drive our nation's science policy."

21st century science associates wrote an entertaining and deeply scientific picture on the one and only Ozone hole. Why is there a whole in the ozone layer, only one and in the same place once every year? It's where the the Sun don't shine, I'm not kidding. When the Sun shines directly on the northern hemisphere it doesn't shine on Antarctica. Sun light on water in the atmosphere produces the Ozone. The Ozone layer protects the entire earth except for the same very small area in Antarctica. The ''Ozone scare'' is totally a manufactured political game. It is a fraud. No ''scientist'' would ever clam it is dangerous unless they are paid to lie by getting a large federal grant. They all belong in Jail.

This is the same information being used for global-warming.

The drawings and graphs show why an Ozone "hole" can never occur. The concepts are briefly made clear so the ideas will stay with you.

In the first section the science is covered. The second section shows where the fraud occurs. It closes in the last section with pictures and the mystic motivation behind everything.

Having learnt about the 'Ozone Hole' and the Montreal protocol some years ago I had swallowed the story that CFCs were causing this phenomenon and that CFCs had to be removed otherwise we were "off to Hell in a hand-basket" (or words to that effect). Now, in 2011 having read this book which was first published in 1992 (and I have an updated 1996 version) I was not the slightest bit surprised to find that the overall story was actually a precursor for the present "CO2 is causing global warming" fraud. Amongst the 'players' in the supposed "Ozone Hole" crisis was - surprise! surprise! - the then Senator Albert Gore claiming that it was causing, amongst other things, the spread of AIDS!

As it happens, I have read a great deal about the history of the CO2 scare, in particular books by Christopher Booker and Ian Wishart which were a total revelation about pseudo-scientific scaremongering and financial and political manipulations by various parties hell-bent on achieving their ideological objectives, and so when I read this book written years earlier about the supposed "Ozone Hole" crisis it was just deja vu. One only has to transpose or interchange the scares - "Ozone Hole" for "CO2 global warming" and its like playing exactly the same music but with a different orchestra.

This book exposes the pseudo-scientific chicanery, the 'snake-oil' salesman activities of those promoting the concept, the financial manipulations to a make a few very rich indeed (at the expense of the poor - of course) and, most importantly, the funding up of a number of the 'environmental' movements and the infiltration of educational establishments with quasi-religious 'environmentalism' in order to create a wonderful mechanism for future propaganda.

The graphs on pages 76 and 122 are not duplicated anywhere else, except in G.M.B. Dobson's original work.

It was not until after Dobson died on March 10 or 11 of 1976 that the manipulations of the data began.

It would be helpful if the newer researchers had continued Dobson's graphical displays showing how stratospheric ozone varies with latitude and with the month of the year, showing the natural variations AND how there are anomalies in various places.

But they don't do that.

Instead they focus on minute changes by day of the month, which is nuts when considering natural phenomena.

In addition, right at the alleged ozone hole is a HUGE source of natural chlorine: Mt. Erebus, a continuous caldera volcano that expels vast amounts all year long. And it is so high [ 3,794 metres (12,448 ft) ] that the eruptions are already two miles high. Since then a number of books and papers have been published about atmospheric ozone. But they are scattershot rather than methodical ... collections of anecdotes ... stories. They present no data that can be readily compared to previous data in any consistent way. Although the new guys pay homage to Dobson by giving his name to the unit of measure, they NEVER refer to Dobson's 40+ years of work, or to his writings, or to his data.

For example, Dr. Dobson published the key graph [ Maduro p 76] in both his 1963 and 1968 editions.

And in 1968, he published the graph published by Maduro p 122.

These excellent graphical presentations have not been updated with newer data. Nor have they been correlated with the monstrous South Polar Vortex which comes and goes with the rising sun.

[0.25 cm = 250 Dobsons = 1/8" thickness of ozone spread thru 30 km of altitude!

A provocative look at the CFC ozone depletion scare, arguing that the scientific evidence does not support it.

It is a “hole” in the sense that the depletion of atmospheric is localized above the South Pole. This means that the claim that there is an ozone hole over the South Pole implies that there is no appreciable ozone depletion elsewhere. There is now (2015) some evidence that ozone levels there have stabilized and may be recovering since 2007 although it is not possible to ascribe the recovery to the ban on HFC because that recovery is not due until 2035. A study of atmospheric total column ozone data from five ground stations for the period 1957 to 2014 with some interesting graphics that highlight seasonal variation and deseasonalized long term trends, may be found in a document posted online. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2612810
