5.0 out of 5 stars Goofy book a huge hit with my 1.5-year-old
I bought this book for my 1.5 year old daughter on a lark after she put a pea up her nose. I figured it would be good for a chuckle, and I was right - it definitely finds humor in nose holes. The strange part is, it has become my daughter's top #1 favorite. I have no idea why - it doesn't have a plot or any characters, but she just adores it. Go figure. I give this...

2.0 out of 5 stars A Boring Treatment of an Interesting Body Part
Another book in the spirit of Everyone Poops, but without the same humor or simplicity. It opens with comparisons of different people's nose holes, and proceeds to animals' nose holes (the dolphin has one on top of its head; seals and hippos can close theirs to go underwater). The content of "boogers" is described, and there's an explanation of how the nose and mouth...

I give this book a strong recommendation not just because it cracks me up, but because she loves it. Also, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but she hasn't put any peas in her nose since.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hits and misses with this one..., October 31, 2003
Overall if you liked *Everyone Poops* you'll probably like this one....just not nearly as much.

I have to say that while the whole family really enjoyed *everyone poops* which was innovative and funny in a laugh out loud sort of way this one kind of smacked of "how can i do something similar again?" The jokes are somewhat similar in that they are of the body humor variety but with this book they are more of the gross-out variety as opposed to the innovative sort.

That said, that kind of subtlty tends to get lost on children. My son found this book just as much of a hoot as the poop book. His sense of humor isnt, shall we say, all that sophisticated and *going for the gross-out* in his case might be considered a plus.

So while I, as a mom, didn't find this to be anywhere near as good as the other book, I think my son enjoyed it as much and since it was a book for him, I have to say that ultimately it was a good purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars educational story, April 6, 2000
By
I first came across this book at Toys R Us. I thought it was amusing and informative. We read the book in the store and decided to get it for our unborn baby as it's first book. I feel it is important for children to understand were things come from. I myself have often wondered about where all the snot and boogers come from. I find it refreashing that someone has finally written a book about such things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breaking Preschool Habits!!, January 10, 2007
This book has been helpful with my current preschool nose pickers. Some of them have cut down on their habit. Books go along way in reinforcing a teacher's opinion!

4.0 out of 5 stars My 18 month LOVES this book!, February 7, 2000
I can't believe it -- I had this book in a drawer in her bookcase for reading when she's a little older, but she found it, and ever since we have to read it 2-3 times daily! (For now, I just read the bold type, and will leave the detail for when she's a little older).

She loves the illustrations and the animals. Yes, it's gross, but it is hilarious.

We have the others in the series (which she hasn't found yet!), and I look forward to sharing those with her.

I loved this book! It was really funny and informational. I also ordered "Everyone Poops" and "The Gas We Pass" and didn't expect it to be as funny, but I enjoyed this one as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Boring Treatment of an Interesting Body Part, May 23, 2009
This review is from: The Holes in Your Nose (Paperback)
Another book in the spirit of Everyone Poops, but without the same humor or simplicity. It opens with comparisons of different people's nose holes, and proceeds to animals' nose holes (the dolphin has one on top of its head; seals and hippos can close theirs to go underwater). The content of "boogers" is described, and there's an explanation of how the nose and mouth are connected. There's a little experimentation, where children are asked to hold their nose and try to talk, and a bit of non-essential body humor: "Wed the holes in my dose are sdubbed ub, I candt sbell id eved wed I fart."

Young children are fascinated with the aspects of their body which they are not allowed to talk about, and this book attempts to bring a lighthearted, scientific understanding to this oft-overlooked body part. However, the artwork is below mediocre, the text is unexciting, and there are better books that cover this topic without being boring.

1.0 out of 5 stars gross, August 16, 2001
By A Customer
"Everyone Poops' is a tasteful classic. "The Holes In Your Nose" is not. We were given it as a gift, but I put it aside after only one reading, saying my kid could read it to himself once he got old enough, but I didn't have to suffer through reading it aloud ever again. We don't need to read about someone picking his nose and eating it! Disgusting, and not worthy of being promoted alongside 'Everyone Poops', as it so often is.
