Trelenny Storwood’s parents want her to marry their neighbor, Cranford Ashwicke. But the young and vivacious Trelenny finds Cranford dull—and positively old (at twenty-eight). When Cranford takes her and her mother to Bath, her view of him changes dramatically, but he, alas, now seems attached to Lady Jane Reedness. Laura Matthews has been writing for more than twenty years. She is the author of thirty novels, mostly Regency (as Laura Matthews) and contemporary women's fiction (as Elizabeth Neff Walker). Her love of the Regency period developed from reading Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen.
Ms. Matthews lives in San Francisco with her architect husband Paul and their two dogs. Their children are grown, which gives them more time to travel and explore. Ms. Matthews actively pursues her research interests (the Regency period and medical sociology) by membership in her local Jane Austen Society and by volunteering at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.
