4.0 out of 5 stars weird color
I just recently purchased these lights. As mentioned in previous reviews, the lights tend towards blue and I would call it pink hues...probably more appropriate for Easter than Christmas. However, I switched the globes covering the LED's, moving the violet globe to the yellow LED, and moving the yellow globe to the violet LED. The effect was to make both of these...

I purchased 4 sets of these lights to replace older lights. I purchased 4 sets of these lights to replace older lights. The GE logo along with the statements on the box of a 5 year warranty and "Constant On" feature whether a bulb is loose or burned out made the increased price seem worth while. One out of four sets didn't work after we hung them on the tree. A call to the 800 number was promptly answered but offered no help. She stated that I should check all the bulbs individually to make sure that they line up even though they advertise a "Constant On" feature. She also stated that bulbs are inserted wrong during manufacture, shorting out the entire string and that is often the problem. If I return the lights they will mail replacements to me in four to six weeks. HELLO, WHO DECORATES THEIR TREE 4-6 WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS? THE WARRANTY IS BASICALLY USELESS. YOU HAVE TO GO BUY NEW LIGHTS TO USE FOR THE CURRENT SEASON AND THEN GET THE REPLACEMENTS BY THE END OF JANUARY. I order on line all the time and get my stuff in days, but GE wants me to mail them back and then wait 4-6 weeks from when they get them before I receive my warranty replacement. I called back after not being able to find a replacement string locally. I hoped that they might offer to expedite a replacement set for my first Christmas with all new GE Lights on our tree, especially after paying what I did for the upgrade. The fact that I bought the GE name and expected some sort of customer service was not a correct assumption. The clerk on the other end of the call offered "to let me in on a little secret, nothing is made in America anymore." Oh well, her job will be outsourced to India soon anyway. The final straw was when I read the disclaimer in small print on the box stating the GE logo was a trademark of General Electric Company and used under license by Santa's Best Craft LTD. At least Polaroid and Bell&Howell waited until they went bust before they started licensing their name on cheap products. You might as well save your money and buy the cheap lights, or just keep on using what you have, because thanks to GE, that's what we'll be doing ...for the next 4-6 weeks anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars weird color, December 5, 2009
This review is from: 100 LED C-5 Holiday Christmas Lights (MULTI Color)
I just recently purchased these lights. As mentioned in previous reviews, the lights tend towards blue and I would call it pink hues...probably more appropriate for Easter than Christmas. However, I switched the globes covering the LED's, moving the violet globe to the yellow LED, and moving the yellow globe to the violet LED. The effect was to make both of these lights in the yellow to orange color range. It completely changed the overall effect to be much more "Christmas like". If you find you don't like the colors as they come out of the box, you might want to experiment with this switch. It worked for me. By the way, you remove the globe by holding the base of the bulb in the socket while twisting and pulling off the globe.

Other than the above, I love the lights. The string is fairly long at 33 feet. Lights are the perfect size for outdoor lighting. I prefer smaller ones for inside. Wiring seems pretty standard, not too flimsy. Lights are plenty bright for outside use. Lights stay on even if a bulb is loose or even removed. I hope this proves to be a tremendous improvement over the old incandescent light sets I previouly used. There is nothing more aggrevating than trying to find the loose bulb, and that shouldn't happen with this set.

Overall, I am very happy with this product.

This is my first year using these lights. They are wonderful! The low power consumption means I was able to completely encircle my house with lights and plug them into a single outlet. Not having filaments, the lights are much sturdier than regular lights.

The one downside is that the wires are not at all improved over the older style. I had two strings I had to repair because of broken wires.

I love 'em!

I bought these to match the sets that I had purchased previously from Costco (they quickly ran out of these at Costco). The lights look great - they tend towards an overall bluish tone becasue of the violet and blue bulbs. I like the effect, but if you want something brighter there are other manufacturers of LED X-Mas lights that have orange instead of violet bulbs. Quality-wise they worked right out of the box and they include several replacement bulbs of various colors in each package. Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome bright LED lights, better than I thought, October 28, 2010

I do not know why people/customers are putting in their reviews that these colors look like Easter or are off, ugly. NO WAY!! They are right on for christmas. There is no violet or purple in these lights at all. I just received two boxes and my wife and I tried them out, we love them. The colors are perfect for christmas. I do not have any violet or purple bulbs. I also do not have any ugly orange as people state that it comes with. The colors are awesome and I am more than pleased with them. With all the reviews, I thought that I would have to switch the bulbs around, per one review suggested.

I think that I got a new set of lights that GE made differently this year than last. Maybe they got rid of the purple/violet bulbs last year.

BTW: One review said that these are not made by GE, that statement is 100% false. GE makes these lights and you can find them in the stores and online at GE.com. Even Lowes sells these exact sets for $29.99 People are mis-informed here. Hope this review helps a lot. I only bring the true facts about products.

DISCLAIMER: I do not work for Amazon or GE. I am only a customer like you.

NOTE: The box might be an old 2009 look because my two boxes don't show the purple bulb. Very strange. Yes, these are the exact same lights that I purchased.

Purchased 6 sets of these lights, sold on the long lasting feature. This is not true, these lights rust out the first year and don't last as long as the $1.00 a string old lights. So mad!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not weather tight, December 6, 2010
This review is from: 100 LED C-5 Holiday Christmas Lights (MULTI Color)
Purchased 5 sets from Costco. They worked great the first year, however I noticed water inside some of the bulb housings when I was taking them down after the Christmas season. I drained the water from the housings (of the several that leaked) and stored them away. When istalling them the next season, many of the bulbs were inoperative. I found that water leaks inside through the wires at the back of each bulb, rusting the connections. Costco was kind enough to replace all sets and it looks like the replacment bulb has been redesigned with a flat surface at the rear of bulb (where wires enter) instead of a dished area that could retain water. Not sure if this design change will keep water out of the lamp. I guess we will know next year. These light sets are not very weather tight.

1.0 out of 5 stars RAGE! These lights DO NOT LAST!!!!, December 3, 2011
This review is from: 100 LED C-5 Holiday Christmas Lights (MULTI Color)
As with many other reviewers I've pulled the lights out for their second year on my home. NONE OF THE 20 STRINGS WORK!!! Many of the bulb covers popped off and/or filled with water last year but the lights continued to shine. Put them all away for the year, and am just now bringing them out. I am PISSED! Do NOT waste your money! These loose plastic covers are not water tight, and the connectors are all terribly corroded. GE YOU SUCK!

Outstanding light set. I have been decorating trees for 60 years and these are the best lights I have set up yet. The colors are bright and clear without overshining the area. The purple lights are a nice touch that I never considered before. The yellow seems a bit much but I tend to like the darker colors myself. Overall these are a must have and with the energy costs going the way they are, these are something to switch to very soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars LED's leads rust!!! DO NOT BUY!!!, December 19, 2011
This review is from: 100 LED C-5 Holiday Christmas Lights (MULTI Color)
I have over 15 strings of these lights hanging on my house. I first put them in 2 years ago and I have replaced 5 sets so far and another string is dark this morning. The leads on the LED's rust from what I can only assume is inferior metals. If you pull a lamp out of its socket, it is completely covered covered in orange goo from the iron oxide.

I, too, called GE and they said it would take 4-6 weeks to send replacements. I am planning on sending all 15 strings back for replacement every year until GE stops using Chinese factories that are robbing GE blind on quality control.
