5.0 out of 5 stars Holidays and Zombies...'nuff said April 23, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't understand the dislike some people have for anthologies. To me, anthologies are a lot like buffet restaurants. Everything good and delectable spread before you, ready for you to dive right in. You are free to pick and choose what you put on your plate. Not only can you be sure you'll find something you like, and can keep going back as many times as you wish, but you may find something new. Personally, I love short story anthologies. Give me a good themed anthology, and I'm even happier. Give me a themed anthology like Holiday of the Dead, and I might spontaneously combust from the sheer awesomeness of it all.
Holiday of the Dead, from Wild Wolf publishing, very well might be the best collection of zombie stories ever assembled. 38 stories in all, ranging from the straightforward to the sublime, the slick to the undeniably tragic, from some of the best in the genre. Add to that a whole crop of talented up-and-comers, and you have a mammoth book of zombie deliciousness that deserves a spot in your library. The book also comes with two prizes inside. A short story called "The Walk-in" from John Russo, co-writer of Night of the Living Dead, as well as a snippet of the screenplay to the upcoming sequel to the film Pontypool, written by Tony Burgess.
Some of the book's highlights include-
Joe McKinney's The Day the Music Died, in which a rock star takes his hedonistic lifestyle to an all new level.
Wayne Simmon's One Dead Whore, where we find out what really happened to Jack The Ripper.
Bowie V. Ibarra's Rockets' Red Glare, where suburban teens find out what's really underneath the town cemetery.
And Derek Gunn's School's Out, proving that School is the last place you want to be when the Zombie Apocalypse hits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!! July 6, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Any zombie fan would be doing themselves a HUGE favor in buying this book! There are many great established authors such as Wayne Simmons and Eric S. Brown as well as a tremendous amount of new talent. With this many amazing authors your sure to find something you like. Most of the stories are short enough that you can fit them in during your break at work but they are so good you won't want to go back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gruesome and fabulous! October 26, 2012
By Poppet
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is such a fantastic collection of holiday stories. The family gatherings we all dread truly come alive with the twists spun in this fabulous anthology. I laughed, at times I was reading with my eyes popping out of my head (dry eyeball syndrome), and cannot recommend this novel enough. All of them are five out of five reads. The language and metaphors are of a very high standard and the stories *suck you in*. A must have novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombie holiday fun February 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This collection of zombie holiday stories was insanely good. Some of the stories were really fantastically scary and dread inducing. Its always a hoot to read a story written by a british person that is set in America and they have us calling each other "mate" and someone reading a note on an elevator saying "lift out of order!" I thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories in this collection and it is one ginormous book. Took me forever to get through it but i was entertained the whole way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Zombie Anthology February 9, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not only is this a great sampling of some of the best authors from the zombie genre, but an incredible showcase of what the horror sub-genre has to offer. Too many people think zombie stories are comparable to zombie movies, when, in fact, undead stories have evolved far more than the undead in the film industry.

This anthology exceeded my expectations...various locations, an array of holiday settings - everything from weekend getaways to major holiday celebrations, and some of the best zombie action that I've ever read.

I would definitely put this collection in my top ten list for anthologies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A belter of an antho! May 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is anthology of 38 zombie stories with holidays as a theme. Be it vacation holidays or public holidays.

I will put my hand up and say I am not a fan of the zombie genre on the whole. I have read a couple of zombie novellas and enjoyed them, and this. This has changed my mind totally. This is the perfect introduction to the genre for people unsure. Bite sized chunks of zombie goodness that are perfect to dip in and out of. There is also a bonus story from 'Night of the Living Dead' co-author, John Russo. This one is not a zombie story but it is a very clever little story nonetheless! In conclusion, this is a belter of an antho I totally recommend.
