A Military Merry Christmas, November 26, 2007
This review is from: Holiday Heroes: A Soldier For All Seasons\Christmas At His Command (Silhouette Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is just what the holiday season needs--a pleasant, easy "read." This book contains two stories. Rachel Lee's "A Soldier for All Seasons" deals with Jon Erikson, home on leave from Afghanistan, who is searching for solitary peace and R&R in the woods of Wyoming. But he encounters Melinda Hawthorne, a Park Ranger. Both are hiding secrets . They spend Christmas together snowed in by a Wyoming blizzard and find solace, peace and hope with each other.
Catherine Mann's "Christmas at His Command" has the stronger plot. General Hank Renshaw's assignment is to guard and keep Senator Ginger Landis safe during an overseas junket. Technically he is her military escort, but Renshaw had been a friend of the Senator's late husband and he harbors feelings for Ginger that he has kept to himself for many years. When their motorcade is attacked, he saves her and they escape into the foreign counryside. It's during their period of hiding until Hank can locate contacts he can trust to get Ginger to safety that they admit to a mutual attraction that leads to love and a life together.
