Book Description

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…unless you’re single and lonely.

Jinx—one of Santa’s elves—is in trouble with the Big Guy. She’s been charged with bringing holiday happiness to Christopher Ragan, CEO of Wondrous Toys. It’s a big job especially when he’s more attached to the bottom of a bottle than helping his fellow man.

She’s got enough trouble without spilling the secrets of the North Pole, but then along comes Natalie Burnes, a newbie CEO of Enchanted Toys and in trouble of a hostile takeover from Christopher’s company. The woman literally crashes Christopher’s vacation plans in a tucked away Michigan cabin---and the sparks start flying.

As if Jinx’s job of matchmaking the toy makers isn’t hard enough, she’s got to stay one step ahead of the North Pole patrol and keep out of sight of the humans. No way is she gonna screw up and lose her magic again. If the humans can’t find happiness and love by Christmas, Jinx forfeits her chance of seeing her true love too. What’s an elf to do?

Editorial Reviews

Review

Jinx is an elf who wants to "make good" after disappointing Santa and the Elfan Council. Her mission: to match two rival toy company owners during the height of the holiday season. The story is filled with characters who want/need to redeem themselves, a lovely message during the holiday season when we all want to be better than we are. A great holiday read.

From the Author

I had so much fun writing this book. I hold Jinx's character close to my heart. This story wouldn't be the same without her.
I wanted to include things I love about the holiday season. Mainly sharing, caring, charity, snow, Santa Claus, (though I don't always portray him in this book how you might see him in your mind). Mistletoe, time with family and of course, love and a little magic.
I hope you enjoy Chris and Natalie's story. I hope it makes you smile and laugh and hopefully reflect on what the holidays mean to you.
Happy reading and Happy Holidays!
xo Abbey

4.0 out of 5 stars heartwarming, romantic tale December 17, 2012
Format:Paperback
Macinnis offered up a heartwarming, funny, made for Hallmark Christmas romance that definitely put me in the holiday mood.

The tale begins when we meet Jinx. She is one of Santa's elves and boy is she in a heap of trouble with the Jolly old elf. To avoid being sentence, Santa charges her with bringing holiday happiness to the CEO of Wondrous Toys, Christopher Ragan. Somehow she needs to bring Chris together with Natalie Burnes, the new CEO of Enchanted Toys. Her task make them fall in love, and not just love but true love. This will prove to be a difficulty task as Chris has already begun a hostile takeover of Enchanted Toys. Santa gave her strict rules not to use her magic. The tale that unfolds is sweet, funny, and full of twists and some very sizzling hot moments.

Christopher comes off as arrogant, and as cutthroat businessmen that is until you peel back the layers and find a damaged romantic. I really liked Christopher despite the mess he finds himself in. I found myself wanting to hug the little boy in him while swooning over the smexy man he has become. Natalie is full of hope, loyal to the core and has been seriously burned in the love department. She needs Chris's help to save her company more then she even realizes, but can she learn to trust her heart. Jinx is a meddlesome little elf and her antics made me laugh, especially when they backfired. Other characters added to the tale and help shape my opinions of the hero and heroine in this tale.

The addition of an elf to this classic storyline made it amusing and in the beginning a little corny, but the tale comes into its own and I quickly got caught up in seeking a happily ever after. The sexual tension between Chris and Natalie felt real and gave way to some steamy scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas fantasy and romantic comedy December 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
HOLIDAY JINX is an interesting blend of Christmas fantasy and romantic comedy that takes one meddling elf and two CEOs of toy companies and puts them on a collision course. Abbey McInnis' characters are a little bit corny and a whole lotta funny. In particular, I loved the mischievous character the story is titled for, the elf Jinx who has angered Santa and upset the Elfan Council. As punishment, she is stripped of her powers and offered a single shot at redemption. Without magic, she must bring happiness and true love to the hero and heroine.

I read Holiday Jinx in the car during a trip to and from LA and the poor husband had to put up with my sporadic cackles. Certain clever turns of phrase are delightful. In particular, I LOVED this:

She shrieked as she braced herself for the jarring collision with the sturdy sofa. She’d lost her candy-cane gun during her less than perfect arrival. Tinsel spread in a sparkling mess across the carpeted floor, enveloping everything in a shimmering cloud.
She struck the side of the couch with such force it knocked her teeth together and kicked the wind from her. “Mother fluffer,” she panted before assessing the collateral damage to her elfan form.

Christopher Ragan is the CEO of Wondrous Toys, and frankly, not a very nice guy. It took me a while to warm up to the hero who initially comes across as unsympathetic. The fact that he's an alcoholic made it even harder for me even though it becomes clear that he is the way he is because he's had his heart broken in the past. Chris does harbor a secret soft spot, a love of toys, which brought him solace as a lonely child. Love does redeem Chris eventually and he makes a heartfelt effort to change, thanks mostly to the generous and forgiving nature of the heroine.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - "Holiday Jinx" by Abbey MacInnis December 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Author Abbey MacInnis writes a book about two people who need to find love again and this time have it last forever and they need the help of one of Santa's elves to make it happen. Although, the elf Santa does pick is actually being punished to get the deed of the humans together since she was found almost ruining the secret of Christmas due to her love of a mortal.
Jinx...the elf who Santa has sent on the mission to bring the two humans together has her work cut out for her since Christopher Reagan does not believe in love no longer and Natalie has had her heart broken. Let's just say, Jinx will have to make the humans come together without her magic and if she fails she'll be forced to go to the elf prison.
Christopher is CEO of Wondrous Toys and he always makes a trip to Michigan during the holidays to be alone and drink from the bottle that has taken over his life since his last love broke his heart. He never thought the stubborn and very determined new CEO of Enchanted Toys, Natalie Burnes would change his Thanksgiving holiday by showing up to his cabin to stop him from buying up shares of her company. Natalie Burnes knows what kind of man Chris is and she is determined to get her family's company back up and running. Chris though has his own secret agenda of Natalie's company and he knows something is going on behind her back, but he has to make sure he's correct before he tells her.
Both Christopher and Natalie are about to realize their fate was sealed to meet all because of a elf and her mission.

I really enjoyed "Holiday Jinx" because it had romance, comedy, and even drama.
I actually see it becoming a movie one day, especially on ABC Family or Hallmark channels.
