Surprising!,
By Benjamin Langley (Colorado Springs) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holiday Party: (A Tale of a Corporate Takeover) (Paperback)
When I first saw this book, I thought: "A Tale of a Corporate Takeover? Why would I care about that?"I didn't expect much from this, until I started reading. Vivid descriptions, interesting characters, and a very exciting plot. From the very first page, this book grabs your attention... Who's the guy in the horned mask? Who are all these wiccans, and why do they keep on taking their clothes off? What does any of this have to do with a Holiday Party or a Corporate Takeover? Richard Wanderer has woven quite a tale in this book... I suggest you take a look. keep smiling, Benjamin

I bought several of these books as holiday gifts because of the tile and everyone of them enjoyed it as did I. If you like advertising, witches and $itches and Madison Avenue, you will really get into it too. Also, anyone who is watching "Mad Men", the series about the Golden Age of advertising, will really like this too.Mad Men: Season 2Mad Men - Season One

Edge of Your Seat, Compelling, and Pretty Scary!,

This review is from: The Holiday Party: (A Tale of a Corporate Takeover) (Paperback)
Holy Smokes! Five stars to this stunningly researched edge of your seat novel which seamlessly blends Wicca Covens and Corporate takeovers. Author Richard Wanderer, a master of suspense, makes the reader feel as if we indeed are the corporate workers whose loyal and genuine efforts in a family owned publishing company have ironically made the company successful and attractive enough to be raided by a group which little interest in the well being of the employees. Poignant and compelling at the same time, the unfolding of the trauma in the lives of the national magazine's employees will make anyone who works in a company vulnerable to corporate takeover apprehensive. Mr. Wanderer knows what he is talking about--an attorney who has received awards for his pro bono work, he has also worked for many years on both the East and West Coasts for major magazine and newspaper publishing companies. His research into Wicca is thoughtful, penetrating, respectful and factual. His blend of Wicca/corporate takeover combination is a tribute to imagination and good writing. Author Wanderer smoothly enters into the lives of the company employees of the holiday parties in three major US cities, New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. His ultimate revelation--we know what the party goers do not. They have no inkling of what awaits them--the change in management, and the consequences after their national magazine is swallowed up in a corporate takeover. Believe me, this is enough to unnerve even the healthiest, most secure reader who works for a corporation. Compelling, energetic, quick, clear action, plus a look into the mysterious-- Holiday Party is not to be missed.Thirty Miracles in Thirty Days

Richard Wanderer has created a riveting suspense novel strategically perched within the rarefied domains of dynastic publishing, the "mad men" of advertising, and Wiccan Covens. This novel grabbed me in the first chapter and didn't let go. The plotting is seamless. Page after page, the story flows smoothly amid twists, turns, and tumult. Its characters are complex, yet imminently human - fraught with fears, flaws, and frailties. Yet beyond its masterful storytelling, this novel has a voice that speaks with amazing clarity. Truth or fiction? You choose. The Little One Diaries, Volume One

As today's headlines cover the demise of publishing empires here is a book that may offer the real cause of all this turmoil...witchcraft.An exciting read with colorful characters and a plot that feels real enough that it could be taken right out of the offices of the current corporate publishing world. This book promises a party and it delivers. |
