Merry Cheesy Christmas,
By
This review is from: Holiday Remixed (Audio CD)
Just what you want sitting under the tree: holiday classics set to shrill disco backbeats that apparently think they're progressive acid jazz and downtempo chill. While there are a few enjoyable tracks here -- the extra-spicy Mudfish remix of the already-lively Spanish carol "Los Peces en el Rio" is genuinely groovable, and creative to boot -- the majority are either occasionally-decent 'original' tunes (which to 99.999% of the population means "not holiday music") or painfully bad electronic mixes of your standard holiday standards (such as those by Bryan Ogden, who not only gifts us with two tracks under his own name but two more under the inexplicable one-off pseudonyms of "Hot Toddy" and "Nutcracker Sweet").
Also worth noting is that despite the inapplicable album title, these tracks are not remixes, but simply original arrangements of at best existing melodies. If you're looking for genuine downtempo holiday chill, check out Reindeer Room I or II; if actual remixes are more your flavour, Christmas Remixed will help you get your holiday on.

Hot Holiday Grooves for Cool Days,
By Alan Worthy (CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Holiday Remixed: Reworked Classics And Originals From The Mistletoe Lounge (Audio CD)
I've truly tested all of these "reworked" Christmas classics CD's. You may have noticed several record labels putting out their own version and Holiday Remixed is without question the best of the bunch. Others include The Reindeer Room and Christmas Remixed, but they simply aren't as enjoyable as this one. There's a fine line between too Christmas-y and not Christmas-y enough. And in other cases you can sometimes barely distinguish a holiday tune, but not with this CD. Here that fine line is well observed. Just check out the samples provided by Amazon for yourself and you can get a small idea.
THIS CD IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COOL AND HIP HOLIDAY FUN. THAT'S HOW I WOULD DESCRIBE THIS CD: HIP, COOL AND FUN.

Finally... Cool Christmas Music Has Arrived!,
By Lees E (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Holiday Remixed (Audio CD)
I took a chance when purchasing this CD as I'm not a big fan of Christmas music but I loved the cover so I thought why not? Besides I was planning a party and was really in need of something fresh. I was so excited by my purchase that I wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for Christmas music or not.
The songs are fun and have a great groove. Some of the tracks are remakes while others are original which I find pleasant as I tire of the same Christmas tunes over and over. And then a couple of the tracks just have a wintery feel so you aren't overburdened with too much Christmas music - for those as sensitive to it as me. The CD is diverse just enough that it's full of surprises, but pleasantly. Two favorites for me are Winter Wonderland and Drummerboy. I strongly suggest you pick up this CD. You won't be disappointed!!
