5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Holiday Grooves for Cool Days
I've truly tested all of these "reworked" Christmas classics CD's. You may have noticed several record labels putting out their own version and Holiday Remixed is without question the best of the bunch. Others include The Reindeer Room and Christmas Remixed, but they simply aren't as enjoyable as this one. There's a fine line between too Christmas-y and not Christmas-y...

2.0 out of 5 stars Merry Cheesy Christmas
Just what you want sitting under the tree: holiday classics set to shrill disco backbeats that apparently think they're progressive acid jazz and downtempo chill. Just what you want sitting under the tree: holiday classics set to shrill disco backbeats that apparently think they're progressive acid jazz and downtempo chill. While there are a few enjoyable tracks here -- the extra-spicy Mudfish remix of the already-lively Spanish carol "Los Peces en el Rio" is genuinely groovable, and creative to boot -- the majority are either occasionally-decent 'original' tunes (which to 99.999% of the population means "not holiday music") or painfully bad electronic mixes of your standard holiday standards (such as those by Bryan Ogden, who not only gifts us with two tracks under his own name but two more under the inexplicable one-off pseudonyms of "Hot Toddy" and "Nutcracker Sweet").

Also worth noting is that despite the inapplicable album title, these tracks are not remixes, but simply original arrangements of at best existing melodies.

If you're looking for genuine downtempo holiday chill, check out Reindeer Room I or II; if actual remixes are more your flavour, Christmas Remixed will help you get your holiday on.

I've truly tested all of these "reworked" Christmas classics CD's. You may have noticed several record labels putting out their own version and Holiday Remixed is without question the best of the bunch. Others include The Reindeer Room and Christmas Remixed, but they simply aren't as enjoyable as this one. There's a fine line between too Christmas-y and not Christmas-y enough. And in other cases you can sometimes barely distinguish a holiday tune, but not with this CD. Here that fine line is well observed. Just check out the samples provided by Amazon for yourself and you can get a small idea.

THIS CD IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COOL AND HIP HOLIDAY FUN. THAT'S HOW I WOULD DESCRIBE THIS CD: HIP, COOL AND FUN.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally... Cool Christmas Music Has Arrived!, December 23, 2004

I took a chance when purchasing this CD as I'm not a big fan of Christmas music but I loved the cover so I thought why not? Besides I was planning a party and was really in need of something fresh. I was so excited by my purchase that I wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for Christmas music or not.

The songs are fun and have a great groove. Some of the tracks are remakes while others are original which I find pleasant as I tire of the same Christmas tunes over and over. And then a couple of the tracks just have a wintery feel so you aren't overburdened with too much Christmas music - for those as sensitive to it as me. The CD is diverse just enough that it's full of surprises, but pleasantly.

Two favorites for me are Winter Wonderland and Drummerboy. I strongly suggest you pick up this CD. You won't be disappointed!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Holiday Remixed, December 11, 2003
This review is from: Holiday Remixed: Reworked Classics And Originals From The Mistletoe Lounge (Audio CD)
I have to tip my hat to the chaps at Basic Lux . Holiday Remixed is everything I thought it would be .See I bought New Sound Theory Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 this year and have been waiting for another release from this label .
Holiday remixed fresh new sound to the old classics . The twist of classic christmas themes layered with groovin beats is treat for all to hear .My favorite song on CD has to be the Madison Park - Lenny B -Winter Wonderland remix . It is a very soft but funky rendition of the classic .
Hot Toddy is a real winner also .
I like this record !!!!This is a great stocking stuffer !!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for the support of Holiday Remixed from BasicLux. It was an interesting project, for sure. (Nothing like writing Christmas carols in July, right?!) I appreciate all the ears put to this CD and look forward to sharing more music with the BasicLux label and the world. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD anytime of year., December 17, 2003

I picked up this cd in the middle of the summer not knowing that it was a holiday cd. It wasn't until I got to about the 5th song that I started recognizing the melodies. This CD rocks. In the same likes as The Chillout Sessions by Ministry of Sound or Kruder and Dorfmiester. I'd give this one a firm place in the CD collection, no matter what time of year.

5.0 out of 5 stars REMIXED THIS HOLIDAY with A SOUND FOR TODAY !, December 15, 2003
This review is from: Holiday Remixed: Reworked Classics And Originals From The Mistletoe Lounge (Audio CD)
For the span of two decades the title of great "DANCE HOLIDAY RECORDINGS" were considered to be recorded by BONEY M or THE SALSOUL ORCHESTRA.
Both CDs were worthy of the title, however, they now sound rather dated (they have a heavy dose of 70s disco flavor).

HOLIDAY REMIXED offers listeners the opportunity to update their music library adding a current dance lounge sound to their holiday collection. This is the perfect CD to inject new life into traditional christmas songs and succesfully shake up your parties. Buy it and you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It, December 12, 2008

I love this CD! It is so much fun to put this on and watch people as they begin to figure it out. Fun reworkings of old favorites make this a CD that you need for a change of pace during the Christmas season that now starts before Halloween. Seriously, how many times can you hear Rudolph by Bing before you want to scream?
