The Best Assertiveness Book I've Read!,
By A holistic nurse (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Holistic Assertiveness Skills for Nurses: Empower Yourself (and Others!) (Paperback)
There are a lot of books out there on assertiveness, but none that take it from a holistic view. Not only does Dr. Clark provide advice and written exercises to help you become more assertive, but she helps you to take care of yourself, mind, body and spirit. The book provides specific information and exercises to help stop turning anger inward, feeling sabotaged and unable to fight back, taking stress out on others, complaining and blaming, and being hooked on helping---a big issue for nurses. This workbook also help you define who you are and what you want, teaches you how to say no to impossible demands and gives you direction for refusing to perpetuate patriarchy and oppression. Another unusual and highly useful chapter can help you accept your power to heal and be healed. There's a lot in here for managers, too. How to lead from within and how to communicate with your staff. This handy workbook can be used by individuals or as part of a workshop or course. I can't say enough good things about this book!
