5.0 out of 5 stars She's only 11?
First came across Hollie Steel during the Britains Got Talent show. During the semis she broke down on stage but was able to compose herself, return & finish her performance. She performed 3 times & got standing ovations each time. She was on the BGT tour of the UK & received more standing ovations. Glad she came out with an album. Not usually a fan of young singers...

Hollie's voice is exquisitely beautiful. That comes through on this recording, but the recording's balance ruins the effect. The grand instrumental backgrounds are questionable, in themselves, but their volume almost smothers Hollie's delicate voice. And why place a little girl's voice amidst a HUGE instrumental background? Hollie's voice contains all the drama and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected pleasure, June 4, 2010

Life is sprinkled with sweet interludes of unexpected joy. For me, listening to this album was one of those transcending moments. "Hollie" has a lovely mix of classical pieces, Nessun Dorma, O Mio Babbino Caro, Panis Angelicus, interspersed with favorites from musical theatre, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, The Music of the Night, I Could Have Danced All Night, and some Disney classics, When She Loved Me, and God Help the Outcasts. But more than anything else it was the surprising mature and beautiful voice of a young girl, Hollie Steel, that so impressed me. I don't believe I have ever heard another child sing as well. She has extraordinary range, perfect pitch, clear and beautiful tone, and, what is so impressive to me, an emotional color in her voice that readily brings out the tears. In this way she reminds me of Patsy Cline. I predict a very long and successful career for Hollie and recommend this album as an auspicious beginning. By the way, Hollie's brother sings in duet with her in The Music Of The Night and complements her very well. I consider it the highlight of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal, December 25, 2010
This review is from: Hollie (MP3 Download)
Genius musical child. A voice beyond her years. Great work of art. Hollie has given these songs a unique twist. there are no rules to music writing or production and between Hollie and the musicians engineers etc have put their own signature on it. That is the art of creating great music, be unique and different. Congratulations Hollie. A fine debut album that is far superior to Susan Boyle's and her teams effort. x

Hollie's voice contains all the drama and dynamics necessary. In visual terms, this recording is like seeing her standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon, but from a distance.

I listened only once, disappointed even for a Hollie fan or, maybe, especially because of being one. Next time, let her sing a capella.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the songs on the album. Hollie has such a beautiful voice and her voice has such a wide range that she can do show tunes and classic music with equal ability. Hollie wonderful singing skills belie her young age.

2.0 out of 5 stars Major Disapointment, September 12, 2010

This review is from: Hollie (Audio CD)
I was eagerly looking forward to this CD after watching Hollie on Britain's Got Talent on YouTube. When I first played it I thought something had gone wrong with my sound system. After trying it a few more times I realized it was actually the production. Hollie has an incredibly beautiful voice, but that wasn't allowed to come through. The second song, Edelweiss sounded more like a piano concert with someone singing along in the background. The piano virtually drowned out her voice. This was also the case in other songs but Edelweiss is the worst example. Whoever mixed the recording did a great disservice to Hollie and her fans. I hope she comes out with another CD in the future recorded with different people or a different company.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, January 7, 2012
This review is from: Hollie (MP3 Download)
She is wonderful. She has a very sweet voice. I bought this and it is good. I wish the instruments were not so loud but you can still hear Hollie. She is talented and great, and put into consideration that she is still developing the talent of hers. Very talented. I will love to hear her as she progresses also. Go Hollie!
