Editorial Reviews

Second album for the New Zealand outfit, following 2008's You & I. Recorded in Auckland in February over one week at drummer Brent Harris' parents' house. On Hollow, the band have dispensed with the angular aggression of their post punk debut and in place have set about redefining their sound. With a penchant for charming melody and heavy laden baritone guitars, Cut Off Your Hands draw from great antipodean pop purveyors, from The Go-Betweens to The Triffids and The Church, with a touch of Flying Nun thrown in for good measure.

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, compelling, yearning indie guitar pop/rock November 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD
3rd release from New Zealand band who play beautiful, compelling, yearning indie guitar pop
with exceptionally strong melodies and ringing Beatles/Byrds 60s psych guitar lines that are
occasionally attacked by the R-O-C-K monster. The sort of album you could listen to all day,
bobbing your head, a lost-in-time smile on your face... Recalls bands like Orange Juice, the
Rifles, Icicle Works, Pulp, Real Estate, Blur, R.E.M., the Smiths, Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Let me see, put together The Blur, James, Suede, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, The Verve, a sprinkling of the Waterboys, Some Stone Roses and there you go! An Excellent Group!
