Book Description

May 5, 2009
One by one, Boston's leading citizens are disappearing without a trace. When Hollywood homicide detective Frank Buchanan's estranged uncle becomes the latest victim, he turns to his resourceful, albeit lethally unbalanced friend, Daniel Rourke, for assistance. Cold-shouldered by the local authorities, the two friends embark on an off-the-books, undercover search of Beantown's sordid underbelly for Buchanan's uncle. The stakes are soon raised as the carefully choreographed, artfully mutilated bodies of the missing men and women begin to appear at various city landmarks. At each scene a cryptic note is found: 'Out of sight, out of mind.' In the final frantic moments leading up to the killers' explosive endgame, Daniel and Buchanan catch scent of their trail, following it deep into the underground labyrinth of a private gentlemen's club named The Colosseum, deeper still into a secret past long thought dead and buried, a past that everyone involved, Buchanan included, is loathe to exhume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Destined to become a cult classic, June 20, 2009

I loved this book. It's a mystery, a satire, a parody, with some truly, outrageously bizarre scenes. Sure to become a cult classic. If you like Chuck Palahniuk, Brett Easton Ellis, or Warren Ellis' works, give this novel a try. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars an intriguing first novel, July 27, 2009
This review is from: The Hollow Man: A (Transgressive) Novel Of Suspense (Paperback)
The Hollow Man is wet-yourself funny. Thank you Mr. Huskins for introducing me to Daniel Rourke. He's a hoot, a hero I immediately found myself connecting with, and rooting for. He's a hero from a bygone era, a tough, sarcastic son-of-a-you-know what, who's never at a loss for a pithy one-liner. From the start of their investigation to the finish, he and his gruff cop friend Buchanan bicker like an old married couple. Their relationship, although built upon tragedy, is as believable as it is amusing.

For a first novel, Mr. Huskins' writing style is fluid, accomplished and assured. No part of the story is forced or clunky; the reality of every scene is vividly persuasive. There are few lulls in the pace and the narrative never loses momentum or interest, believably accommodating some outrageously bizarre moments. In short, The Hollow Man is a genuinely disturbing tale in a genre that challenges writers to shock and unsettle.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars i just loved it, July 27, 2009
This review is from: The Hollow Man: A (Transgressive) Novel Of Suspense (Paperback)
If you're a fan of mystery and suspense books, you've got to read The Hollow Man by G. Huskins. It is chock full of unforgettable characters (good, bad, and ugly), offbeat scenes of gore and violence, and eye-for-eye vengeance. Best of all, there are twists, turns and double-crosses galore. If you think you've solved the mystery, if you think you really know what's going on at any point before the book's most satisfying ending, think again. Because you'll be wrong, my friend. Dead wrong.
