5.0 out of 5 stars Researching the unknown and the hidden. . .
As a writer myself enthralled with the idea of Jule Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth, when I happened upon Jan Lamprecht's website on the purely scientific idea of a hollow earth some years back I felt I'd died and gone to heaven. Here was at last interest in proof. Being one of the first of many to read his book, I have to admit, it is well reasoned, well...

1.0 out of 5 stars [terrible material], pure and simple.
With very minimal support, the author attempts to posit theories that are absurd at best. I heartily recommend this book for conspiracy theorists.

Here was at last interest in proof. Being one of the first of many to read his book, I have to admit, it is well reasoned, well put together, well said, well done! Jan provides you with the data, conflicting and otherwise and let's you decide, he does not do that for you. Logic speaks loud and clear. Science paints the picture. You read it and you decide. Interesting book, logical premise, nothing but the facts!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most informative and fact filled books I've read, October 3, 1999

This review is from: Hollow Planets: A Feasibility Study of Possible Hollow Worlds - Could the Planets Mercury, Venus and Earth Possibly be Hollow? (Perfect Paperback)
This book introduces the subject of "Hollow Planets" in a way never done before. The author's approach is an all encompassing and multi-faceted one.
From questioning if Cavendish was correct in his assumptions and if Newton's gravity theories are in fact accurate, through anomalies found in currently accepted theories about siesmology, astronomy, gravity, weather and more to tying up information reported by arctic explorers such as Peary, Cook and others.
This is the most comprehensive sceintific study done in this field todate.
Of note is the Author's Seismic model, which will be of great interest to those scientists who's speciality is the study of the Earth and other planetry structures.
Written so that the person in the street as well as the person in the lab can both enjoy it. Having once read this your thinking will be changed forever.
Worth every minute spent digesting it's contents, the book "Hollow Planets", will find a place on my book shelf for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is far better than one would expect from the title, October 3, 1999

It's a physically argumentation book! I mean, one would expect this to be a kind of esoteric or legendary stuff, but besides there is the history of the concept and the authors since some centuries, it is an academic based argumentative book on the real possibility of our planets being spheric shells, inhabitable inside. The point is there is an eminent revolution in our gravitational concepts (from several authors) and the seismic model of an hollow earth CAN be explained as the author of the book states it. I have seen that old "Hollow Earth" Raymond Bernard book, so were familiar with the idea, but this book has nothing to do with the first one. No UFO, no strange speculations, the HUGE bibliography in the book point to known academic professional and science publications. One gets the feeling it actually is quite defensible! I have to call my friends to this one. Top recommended indeed.

Can Earth be hollow? Well, the truth to be known the theory that Earth has a core is exactly that-a theory. Noone ever got down or drilled down far enough to know how things really are down there. Most people accept it as fact without knowing anything about a subject and its a shame. I grew up in a country where talking about UFOs, aliens, Atlantis and many other "weird" things didn't immediately classify you as a nut.Even scientists were open about putting forth the various theories that would make people here rolls their eyes and yet Russia produced some of the best scientists to date. The moral of the story is this-be open minded. Nothing about science is written in stone. Now, for the book-its very convincing and easy to read. One thing i didn't like -too many geological and geophysical explanations. Could have been a lot shorter and just as good. Still, i enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book is true to its title., August 31, 2010
This review is from: Hollow Planets: A Feasibility Study of Possible Hollow Worlds - Could the Planets Mercury, Venus and Earth Possibly be Hollow? (Perfect Paperback)
I, for one, found this book extremely fascinating. Mainly because I have a very heavy science back ground and have I have not joined the other academics in their narcissistic "mutual admiration" society. This book is absolutely true to its title. It is a study of the feasibility of hollow planets. Not as the negative reviewers cite as a pronouncement. The reader gets to make up his own mind after digesting the massive amount of material. I was extremely surprised by the historical astronomical support for Mr. Lamprecht's study. Mr. Lamprecht's book is a credit to independent thought and is very, very well documented. What most people forget is that the greatest or most revolutionary discoveries are usually discovered by someone outside of that field of study. Mr. Lamprecht's is not part of the mutual admiration society and therefore cannot be academically (which means financially) sanctioned for his opinions (other than being called a quack). However, if you have read his book there is absolutely no doubt that not only is he not a quack but he is just like anyone reading it - inquisitive! It is one of my favorite books, but it may be a tough read for some. It is so well documented that it may seem somewhat repetitive in nature, but that is nothing more than Mr. Lamprecht's thoroughness shinning through.

I highly recommend this book for anyone that has absolutely no interest in what Paris Hilton is doing today, tomorrow or what she did yesterday. After reading the book you will feel a sense of accomplishment and you will be much the wiser for it. It is a very strange but interesting subject and may even be a good coffee table book that will start an engaging conversation with others, who are not voracious readers. I have recommended this book to several school teachers to read and they have all thanked me for turning them on to the subject. They thoroughly enjoyed it and were shocked at the massive amount of documentation that Mr. Lamprecht went into. Two thumbs up! This book covers the A-Z on the topic. Cudo's to Mr. Lamprecht for giving us this not so little gem.

Hollow Planets is a great survey of old & new science theories & evidence for a hollow earth with inner sun. Jan presents a "new seismology" (spherical earthquake dynamic patterns) with grafix of inner earth shells. He explains how mass doesn't create gravity fields in & around earth. Jan explores how moons & planets may also be hollow. He uses logic, with science evidence, speculation & intuition in articulate aray of inner earth potentials. I heard him interviewed on Art Bell & he has a great interactive website. Maybe 'hollow earth' can explain some mysteries of how earth spins, grows & makes life from within?! However, we need a natural geomeetry of cosmic evolution to integrate the inner earth in spiraling patterns, from DNA to galaxies. Keep on evolving our natural earth awareness!

The book was very enjoyable. It gave a great fight on how the earth could be hollow In which sounds (after reading This book) legitimate. If you don't believe it is hollow it is definitely an entertaining thought.

This review is from: Hollow Planets: A Feasibility Study of Possible Hollow Worlds - Could the Planets Mercury, Venus and Earth Possibly be Hollow? (Perfect Paperback)
Having been drawn to the hollow earth theories from 'subconscious?' memories for years, I have grabbed and read every book I could find on the subject...

These were mostly stories and myths with little concrete to base the stories on.

This book gives scientific reasons and challenges to WHY this is probably not only plausible, but a very real possible reality!

In the past the 'church' and the 'scientists' told Columbus the world was FLAT...Now they insist that it is SOLID....This book challenges such 'concrete' assumptions...

For years the subject of a hollow earth intrigued me, but I did not take the idea too seriously. Who would? But Jan Lamprecht's thorough and precise research has convinced me we have definitely missed something. It's a scientific book written in respect for the traditions of western science. It would actually make a desent text book at the High School to College level.
