About the Actor
Holly Shimizu is Executive Director of the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC and is one of the most knowledgeable experts on herb gardening today. She lectures extensively, has written on a variety of horticultural subjects and serves on the advisory boards of the American Horticultural Society and the American Botanical Council. Previously, Holly served as the first Curator of the National Herb Garden at the U.S. National Arboretum and has worked in many fine European gardens, including Wisley, the garden of the Royal Horticultural Society. She received degrees in Horticulture from Temple University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Maryland, and the Herb Society of America's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Horticulture.
About the Director
Richard T. Slade spent 23 impressive years editing documentaries for NBC and winning awards for his still photography. During that same time period, he collaborated with his wife, Ruth, to establish their own production company, Audio Visual Artists' Productions. Amongst other roles, he primarily functions there as Productions Director and Editor. AVA's visual creations support the marketing strategies and other communication campaigns of an extremely diverse and discerning client base. The company also independently produces videos for sale to the general public and special interest groups. AVA's most recent independent video was declared a Telly Awards Winner in the History/Biography category.
