The two gay movie producers are somewhat comedic, but the rest, especially the lead actress, are very tiresome.

Henry Jaglom's improvisational films are a take-it-or-leave-it matter of taste. While I am usually not a big fan of his movies, I found Hollywood Dreams to be one of his better ones. I thought Justin Kirk and Melissa Leo were particularly good. The main problem - and it's a big one - is the lead role. Neither the character (who, as portrayed, would have lasted in Hollywood maybe five minutes) nor the actress playing the role (Tanna Frederick) was the least bit believable. In fact, the film would have been much more interesting had it been about Justin Kirk's character - a straight actor posing as a gay actor in order to advance his career.

It's a film by Jaglom , Frederick is the lead.
Jaglom allows Frederick a lot of leeway and the result is
occasionally exaggerated to artificiality.
Believe in directors directing, Jaglom seems to run an
ensemble a lot of the time and this time the result was patchy.
Still worth seeing - not sure if I'd buy it unless you cant get to see
it any other way.

Normally, I like Henry Jaglom's brand of films. But this one is so incestuous about what it's like to be desperate in Hollywood that I tuned out for most. The two gay movie producers are somewhat comedic, but the rest, especially the lead actress, are very tiresome. She cries at everything, mostly her own desperation. It's really not that funny. Watch at your own peril.
