The greatest obsticle to the modern understanding of acupuncture from a scientific prespective has not been in the results. The results speak for themselves. In fact, rescent studies have shown that true acupuncture in which traditional and known acutuncture points have been effected in treatment has been more effective than sham acupuncture in which treatment has been preformed on random points. The obsticle is simply the inability of modern science to measure and detect the entire process. Modern science is not complex enough to study fully this ancient art.

Giant leaps have been made however, such as in the book Neuro-Acupunctue detailing studies which have shown through PET scans the corresponding areas of the brain effected through Acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture points are acutal and measurable points on the body. The e Acu Pen is able to detect points and emits a beep letting the user know where to apply treatment.

Traditionally acupuncture treatments have been done with needles. This is due in large part to available technology. But even the needles, if we compare the thin and relatively painless needles used in modern times to the bulky and sometimes crude needles used in centuies past, we can see that even within traditional modalities the systmem has been refined according to available technology. People undergoing acupuncture treatments with modern electrical devices, such as the acu-pen, have reported similar benefits to those using the more traditional needle therapy.

The acu pen is not a replacement for a qualified practioner, who may also perscribe other therapy such as herbal formulas, etc. But, it is faster and more effective than chemical medication for pain control, amongst many other things, and is simple and convenient to use.

I am not an expert on acupuncture but I am slowly learning some of the technique. What I often used it for is to detect surface nerve damage on certain areas of my head and face caused by surgery, and the areas of my foot and leg that was caused by sciatic nerve damage. It is better to use e-Acu-Pen than to stick myself with an ordinary pin. I also experiment with e-Acu-Pen on my scalp.

I am certain this is ordinarily a good product as it was reccomended by friends. I received the product quickly in a few days after ordering, but the product was damaged, having a bent battery clip problem and the batteries were completely dead. I attempted contact with Hollywood gadgets on several occassions unsuccesfully. No email answer, no return of my phone messages. I discovered the batteries were dead straightened the clips and bought new batteries,which are a bit pricey, now the product works, but the aforementioned clips are not very secure.I am still not receiving any response from the company at all.
So we are hopeful it will continue to work as it now is.
