Some interesting information, but poorly written. Also, the title is misleading. The book is actually the autobiography of a relatively obscure personality on the fringes of show business.

I must confess this book both enthralled and depressed me.......

On the one hand, after reading the amazing tumultuous adventures of Skip E. Lowe, it made me think how sadly boring my own life has been, by comparison.

Yet, on the other hand, I was captivated by the intimate details provided of all these various Hollywood luminaries....not merely their warts and blemishes, deftly hidden from public view, but also their oft secret virtues too.

This book is not for the easily offended...at times, it is filled with sordid sexual depravity and, considering its gay point of view, undoubtedly there are many straight types who will find its unflinching disclosures to be extremely discomfiting. For example, when Lowe discusses the penis head of James Dean in lucid detail, that is the kind of topic that will cause the more conservative types to recoil in horror.

What ultimately impressed me most about Lowe's book is that he is an 85 year old survivor who, having been kicked and crushed by many of the worst things life offers, still manages to retain a profoundly optimistic and humane perspective...and that is something worthy of admiration!

Hard to like this book and hard to hate it. You get the feeling this fellow (the man who wrote it) is a major star because of all the first person looks at well major stars? He might have been but who knows and at times who cares. He does offer some details about stars that you may have wondered about and he does take you along on a ride that covers many decades. That said, I did read it all and still am not sure if the money spent on it was worth it.

All these people giving this book lousy reviews bought it because it was titled "Hollywood Gomorrah" and promised to reveal the "Sex Lives of the Hollywood Stars." Sheesh. What did you expect?

Well, the thing I didn't expect was to fall in love with Skip as I was reading the book. He is a kind person with a warmhearted nature and that is the fundamental reason he knows just about everybody who is anybody in Hollywood.

More a personal memoir than a journal of scandalous revelations, Skip takes us on a tour of his life. We begin in Vaudeville, travel to Viet Nam (to dangerous places even Bob Hope feared to tread), and end up back in Hollywood. Mr. Lowe's joy and gratitude is palpable as he describes the reactions from the GI audiences he entertained, and how they took special care of him as they swooped and darted through enemy fire.

This is a brave, compassionate man. Having read what personal terror befell him as a child, continuing on into adulthood, victimized over and over, I discovered a heroic optimism in Lowe. Where others might have stewed in bitterness, Skip kept working, kept going. He's a trouper.

I've seldom read books where one person knows so many celebrities, but then I've seldom read books by authors who have been in show business as long as Lowe has. The best parts for me are the scandalous celebrity revelations in this book. I've read every book I could find on Hollywood Scandals, so I was amazed to find several stories in this book I'd never heard of before!

Far from being a vulgar, graphic tell-all that some people are reviewing it as, "Hollywood Gomorrah" is a delightful memoir of a dedicated and lovable entertainer who just happens to know some really good stories.

Five Stars! Great Read!

Wow what a page turner! The book that all of Hollywood is talking about. Skip E. Lowe provides an unflinching, behind the scenes look at the sex lives of some of hollywood's biggest stars. From Vietnam USO tours to New York's Park Savoy, the author tells all in a way that is honest, salacious and sometimes heart-wrenching. Skip E. Lowe, child actor, patriot and hero, has been everywhere, has met everyone, and is bold and unafraid in his descriptions. Forget about blind items, Skip E. Lowe tells all and names names: Brando, James Dean, Monty Clift, Troy Donahue - it's all here. If you are interested in Hollywood gossip this is the book for you. Not for the faint of heart.

I found Skip E Lowe's sometimes self-deprecating "diary of the sex lives of many Hollywood stars",fascinating. Sometimes shocking, sometimes deeply touching, reactions to this book may differ wildly. I, for one, loved it, and by its end, found myself wanting still more.

Skip E. Lowe really tells it like it is and like it was. One of the most candid and hilarious books about Hollywood and the misadventures of its stars ever written. Everything is told from Skip E.'s personal observation. He was there and you just know he's telling the truth. A great fun read.

I really enjoyed this book and found Skip E. Lowe to be a fascinating man....even though I had never heard of him before.
While I could not really put the book down, one does wonder if certain parts of the book were actually factual - meaning some of the sex.
That said, Mr. Lowe had a fascinating career and I very much enjoyed the book.
