4.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood(weed) HotTubs
For a movie that was shot in the 1980's I thinik it's pretty good, but stupid yet funny too. It's a good comedy about a company (Holloywood hottubs repair) that's tring to stay in business. Definantly not recomended for minors.

For a B-grade comedy of the 80's, this one still holds up a little today and has some funny stuff in it.

But so many people blindly give this movie 5 stars & I don't know why?

The plot is of a delinquent kid who when he vandalizes the Hollywood sign, his parents and parole officer make a deal that to avoid being sent to prison, he is to go and work for his uncle's plumbing company that specialize in hot tub repair. The rest of the coarse of the movie isn't really a plot, just a few gags and a story about the delinquent teenager finding himself, getting a girl, and having fun with his new found friends. It's a mindless film, but a decent one at that.

What I found most interesting was the vandalization of the Hollywood sign. Seeing as how there was no CGI in 1984, it makes me wonder how they got that shot and if they really did it, or if it was a bit of film trickery involved? However, where there is pros, comes the cons. What really puzzled me was the acting by Jewel Shepard. Her bimbo secretary character has one of the most annoying voices I have ever heard. I know what she was going for in the sound of her 80's kid speech, but she seemed to just produce a really annoying one that you could tell was fake. It almost seemed like she was the odd character out of the whole movie... like if the movie had been campy, she would have fit right in, but it wasn't a campy movie, so she was the odd one out. Tho, maybe it was just me who was annoyed by that character, as in Hollywood Hot Tubs 2, she is the main focus of the whole movie.

This is definitely one of those late night movies that nudity for no reason what-so-ever is inserted to make teenage kids watch. But it does actually stand out above a lot of the other types of movies that where all made like that in the 80's period. If you liked movies like Porkys, Screwballs, Revenge Of The Nerds, Summer Vacation and such movies, then this one is something you might enjoy too. Just don't go in expecting too much.
