versus
1.0 out of 5 stars Opportunity wasted
This woman may or may not be James Dean's out of wedlock daughter. If so, I absolutely feel for the anguish she must feel at being alone without her mother, famous birth father, and step father. But this book gave me a headache. It was a blown opportunity to tell an interesting story, and kind of wafts along on what sounds like a drug addled haze. its incoherent story...

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it, but..., July 5, 2006
This review is from: Hollywood Lit (Paperback)
I think that Di is a good writer and she seems very sincere. I believe her story and it thrills me to know that Jimmy most likely left a piece of himself in the world in the form of a child . I just wish that she would come out with more info about herself and her childhood. There is so much more that I want to know.Like who was her Mother "Cat"? She doesn't sound like any of the women I've heard about that were linked to Jimmy before. Even though I enjoy her writing, I wish that the book had been written in more of a straightforward narrative style.
For example- My Mother met James Dean in this month, and this year . Thats the kind of writing I personally prefer in dealing with a biography book like this.

Magical story telling - Di's words captured my interest from the beginning. I feel priviledged to have had a peek into her life journey...and a glimpse of Hollywood of days past. I look forward to her next book.

I was touched by this story. I started to read this fancinating life drama and I literally could not stop until I had finished. I was blown away by this secret concerning James Dean and "Cat" which was revealed by Di Dean. What a heart wrenching experience. I hope to learn more about Di Dean.

Di Dean's writing style is unique and breath-taking. Her story tugged at my heart strings through out every page. I recommend this book to anybody who has been broken, confused, left behind, or simply is just interested in old Hollywood.

Gripping, fresh and original first novel by Di Dean. Hollywood Lit reads like a fast paced movie script. I could not get enough of the sister scenes. This startling journal of a twisted Hollywood affair and childhood will leave you with wanting more. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Hollywood Lit (Paperback)
Di Dean's memoir is truly an amazing story that seamlessly weaves together the tantalizing yet forbidden love her mother and James Dean had with own traumatic late life realization that everything she thought she knew was a lie. Di's pursuit for her paternal truth is action packed and I found I was hooked from page one. I loved this book and recommend it to one and all. I would give this six stars if I could!!!!!
