For all who love Hollywood musicals, this updated edition of Stanley Green's thoroughly researched textbook will come as a real godsend. Admittedly, not every musical Hollywood ever produced is covered -- that would take a book ten times this size -- but just about all the really notable productions are included. For 1969, for instance, "Sweet Charity", "Goodbye, Mr Chips", "Paint Your Wagon", "Hello, Dolly!" and "Darling Lili" are musts -- and they are here. It's also particularly good to see under-rated musicals like "Goodbye, Mr Chips", "Where's Charley?" (1952) and "Music in the Air" (1934) represented in Mr Green's admirable selection of all-time great musicals.
