5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find music, May 11, 2007

I really like the music from Kevin Costner's films but some of it is hard to find. Especially from No Way Out and Revenge. So I was extremely happy to find at least SOME of the music on this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars best of the latter Silva-actor compilations, August 14, 2005

This review is from: Hollywood Stars: Music From The Films Of Kevin Costner (Audio CD)
While not the best, Silva actor compilation (the Stallone one holds that candle IMO), this is the second best, and the best of the latter ones, the ones released in Dolby surround. Mark Ayres electronic work on Field of Dreams in particular is amazing and it sounds just like the OST. Also you have Michael Kamen's theme to Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves.

Also check out Stallone: Music from the films of Sylvester Stallone and The Greatest Music from the Films of Arnold Schwartzenagger

5.0 out of 5 stars "a series to collect and revisit, time and time again", November 30, 2001
This review is from: Hollywood Stars: Music From The Films Of Kevin Costner (Audio CD)
Silva Screen has brought to us a variety of samplings, with the best composers out there in today's ~ World of Film Music!

Gathering some classic themes and previously unreleased material for this album is James Fitzpatrick (Producer)...featuring The City Of Prague Philharmonic, conducted by Paul Bateman and Nic Raine...the album has a distinct "Western/Adventure" flavor...makes it all the more interesting and entertaining, and of course provides an exciting listen.

Here are my stand outs ~ "SILVERADO"(1985), composed by Bruce Broughton with a score that follows the fond revisiting, a kind of energetic motifs and expansive Americana, which so characterizes yesteryear's "Hollywood Westerns"...next we have "WYATT EARP"(1996), composer James Newton Howard gives this film the right combination of vigorous and nobility interwoven with the life and times of the character, a scoring feat he most certainly achieved.

Which brings us to the highlight ~ "FIELD OF DREAMS"(1989), one of the finest scores for any film, and we have James Horner to thank...Horner summons both the rustic solitude of a midwestern rural community, with shades of cornball conviviality...this release of "HOLLYWOOD STARS" will satisfy any "film-score-buff" collector, not to mention all the fans of KEVIN COSTNER!

Total Time: 59:29 on 17 Tracks ~ Silva Screen Records SSD-1088 ~ (1998)
