5.0 out of 5 stars They don't give interviews and they sure don't glitter!!!, March 31, 2011
These vampires don't give interviews and they don't glitter!!! It's a tag line the author used to use on his website. Fans of those 2 works please don't take that as an attack it's not. Matt has said many times that he is a fan of both but with his Hollywood Vampire universe he has set out to create something diffrent and he has done just that. You see Matt asked himself where do vampires come from? Well the simple answer is they were once human. Not all people/humans are dark and brooding so then the question becomes why should vampires all be that way? Well to be frank they shouldn't just like the people they are derived from vampires should be unique and diffrent and Matt has set out to create a world where they are just that. And he's achieved that remarkably. The vampires of the Hollywoodvampires universe are diverse you've got your rockers, goths, nerds, mysterious enigmas, rebels, goofballs, punks, gypsies, and hulking amazons. Just like people the vampires of the Hollywoodvampire universe are all diffrent. Because of these diffrences it leads to stories that are bit diffrent then your classic vampire story. Matt's stories are a blend of humor, action, adventure, romance using character that are developed and likable.

Unholy Wars is the 1st tale from Matt Jones' Hollywood Vampires universe and it's a great jumping on point. Your introduced to many of the vamps that become mainstays of the universe. It's a great action story and a very fun read. If your a fan of the vampire genre I implore you give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure genius at worK!!!, May 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had the privilege of being introduced to the Hollywood Vampire world many years ago. Back when the only novel was Unholy War and few short stories. Matt is a genius in that he had made a realistic world that has fantasy wrapped in. This world could exist and no one would know. With every story I have read, I forget I'm reading about vampires until something happens to snap me back to the vampire world.

I unfortunately lost track of the Hollywood Vampires for several years. I must admit that I have read and enjoyed many other vampire stories and series. I had finally finished my last series and was craving a "fix". I went looking for my copy of the novels and had realized I had lent it out and never gotten it back. I was sooooo relieved when I found the books on amazon and bought them. When I started reading them again, I had forgotten how much I loved this world and how much I laughed and cryed with the characters. No one can be disappointed by this book or any story Matt writes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leave the coffin in the basement ..., March 17, 2011
For his first novel, Matt R. Jones produced an amazing work. As you read you become involved in the lives and adventures of these characters, all of whom are so rich and well-rounded that there are times when the reminder of their vampiric nature almost derails your train of thought because they are so DIFFERENT from any other vampires on the market. Once you start getting into the tale you sometimes actually FORGET that you're reading about vampires, and it's a curious (but very worthwhile) experience the first time it happens. Not many writers can or have pulled off such a coup, and my hat is off to Matt Jones for doing so.

Matt R. Jones shall one day be a name associated with great authors. This is his inaugral outing, and it is a stellar performance. It is full of many colorful characters, and the story is a wonderfully nontraditional vampire story. The action is exciting, the love engrossing, the energy high. Definately one of the greatest books I have purchased this year. I can't wait till Matt's next book, as I shall await it with baited breath.

Eloquent yet unrefined Matt weaves a whole new world of vampires lust for life in a big city. While not horrific or graphic he leads the reader to truly believe they to could Become as he draws the readers every sense into the story. This was a very difficult book to put down I would reccomend anyone that enjoys horror to drama to even fantasy to get a copy to read over and over....

5.0 out of 5 stars WHOA MAMA!!, November 3, 2001

This review is from: Hollywood Vampires: Unholy War (Paperback)
I don't even KNOW where to begin! these aren't your mom and dad's vampires! the author matt jones takes the whole vampire genre into a new "demon"sion altogether!

- 1st - with stark characters that could have easily walked out of either: a seedy bar off the hollywood strip or out of a comic book, the story slices from cover to cover.. if you buy any vampire book this year buy this one!

- 2nd - the cover is one of the more stylistically done pieces for cover art i've seen in a long time.

could this be a book that finally spans the gap between two genre's? comic books and novels coming together as one and not being super cheesy?

mr. jones my hat's off to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Behind the curtain of Hollywood........., January 1, 2007
This review is from: Hollywood Vampires: Unholy War (Paperback)
In the beginings of Matt's idea's of Hollywood Vampire's, him and I used to sit on the tailgate of my pick-up and talk about the differant things that would happen in this universe. This book is super, pure, raw, witty, writing genius. Simply put. It's not your book about a whole bunch of vampires feeling sorry for themselves or being way egotisacal. This story(among others that matt has out now, check him out at Hollywoodvampires.net)is painted with vivid colorful charitars that any man woman or child in all of us would love to hang out with and have as a true friend. This book is fast paced and makes you want to keep on readin to find out "What's next?" Now combine this with the artwork of Nathan Smith, an artist who has no equal, and you don't just have a mere vampire book, my friend you hold a Legend!
