keep an eye on these stars,

True aficionados of Western Swing have been experiencing a real dry spell recently and the Lucky Stars' new CD is just the long tall drink of water we have been looking for. Billing themselves "Hollywood's full-bore, rompin', stompin, honky-tonk outfit," they have wowwed their faithful fans across Southern California. This debut offering brings their inspired stripe of country swing to the rest of the world. Their sound reminds us that California was once home to the pioneers of western swing--a time when Spade Cooley, Bob Wills and Tex Williams were the region's honky tonk heroes. So give this disc a listen; we are sure to hear more from this talented crew.

A Charming Bunch of Fellows,
By
This review is from: Hollywood & Western (Audio CD)
This first CD from The Lucky Stars captures the full feeling of their incredible live shows, sans beer and fan club. This writer has been faithfully following the career of lead singer/songwriter Sage Guyton for fifteen years now. The versatile artist has captured the hearts of many as he traversed the stormy waters of many a medium and genre in search of his perfect niche. Finally, it seems, he has found it, and one need only watch his fanatical fan club in full honky-tonk dress swooning to his lyrical voice and the musical meanderings of his crew to know that these loveable fellows will soon be touring worldwide. Won't you be proud to say you knew of them first?

Just Great,

As a big Bob Wills fan I was doubtful that this CD could live up to my expectations. Well, they did. Amazingly true to form and with two great vocalists (I hate it when you get a cd and you like one vocalist and not the other). Not a bad song on the disc, I really like "Sugar Mama" and "Everybody's Fool". Now I just wish I had it on vinyl so it would have some nice hisses and pops.

The Lucky Stars Shine Brilliantly,

The catchy lyrics and captivating melodies keep playing in your mind long after the CD has ended. The musicianship is outstanding...the soothing singing, the soaring steel guitar, the playful fiddle, the tinkling piano, the tantalyzing guitar and the rythmic bass and drums all add luster and shine. The Stars they sparkle- singly and in constellation.

Some of the best Honky-Tonk and Western Swing EVER put down in any era. Jeremy Wakefied's steel playing is superb and the band just has a great boogie beat. Keep it up guys, were all depending on ya!

This is one of my favorite CDs; it's on heavy rotation in my car. The first time I heard it I would have sworn up and down that it was a late 40's band or somebody like Ernest Tubb working with different musicians. But the Lucky Stars put their own brand of backbeat magic into everything they do; the songwriting, the amazing solos, and Sage's fantastic vocals make this a stellar recording. And if they don't list their new album for sale soon I may die (hint hint). Nice work fellas, please keep it coming and tour frequently!

A highly pleasurable cd of authentic sounding 50's western swing. Although there are touches of rockabilly, the majority of this appelaing cd is made up of vintage sounding late 40's thru 50's Holywood western swing. Great musiscians, in the Big Sandy tradition, and fine tight solos, by this great band. If you like Big Sandy or Ray Condo's western swing combos, you are likely to liek this too, although it's more twangy than Big Sandy or Ray Condo. A fun and very swinging cd.

I was recently lucky enough to catch one of their live performances. They dazzled everyone with their fantastic singing/musicianship/stage presence/and lyrics. I just had to pick up this CD and I must say that they are now one of my favorite acts/bands. If you're a fan of western swing, pick this CD up, you won't be sorry.....

I highly recommend this album. They invoke an era of great song writing and musicianship from an era gone by. Like history in a bottle. I have personally met Sage and the boys and can say they are real to the core. Highly recommend if you like this genre of music or even if you don't.
