Hank Penny has a gift for writting amuzing songs that we can all relate to. The music is traditional western swing. You laugh and want to dance, at the same time. If you like traditional country music but don't like to cry, try Hank Penny

Great Western Swing,

This review is from: Hollywood Western Swing 1944-1947 (Audio CD)
If you enjoy Western Swing music from the 1940's and 1950's, then you'll be happy you purchased this CD. I guess Hank Penny is not as well known today as others from those days, when this kind of music was a big craze on the West Coast, probably due to the preponderence of Western movies made in Hollywood: Bob Wills, Spade Cooley, or Tex Williams, but this music swings just as much. I would say he most closely sounds like another great Western Swing star, Merle Travis. Upbeat, uptempo music with nice guitars (electric and pedal steel).
