If Larry The Cable Guy Had The Voice of Chris Daughtry and Brian Littrel..., March 22, 2008
This review is from: Hollywood's Not America (MP3 Download)
When I first heard this song after of course hearing it on American Idol, I decided to listen to the whole thing. The song was strange to say the least, Elena Jane moves to California to become a centerfold (insert rolling eyes here), and then the singer tells her to put her blue jeans back on (anti-Playboy?), and tells her, the song title (a strange one at that). So lyrically, the song is not catchy at all, and downright weird, till you hit the chorus, then you only remember the melody, not anything else.
But being this the first "hit" for this guy, Ferras, I must comment on him. First off, the single cover (not the album cover) looks like a young slender Larry The Cable Guy, you know, that back home, down in the south, smart-allek kind of look. And his vocals, when first hearing them, I thought they sounded rather familiar, because this guy's voice is the combination of Chris Daughtry's slower ballad voice, and Brian Littrel's voice (from the Backstreet Boys?). By the way, the whole song starts to get annoying after awhile. So thank god this hasn't taken off on radio, yet, because I don't know how much I could stand.
So overall, the song is strange to say the least, from the singer, to the lyrics, to the melody. So in the words of a couple of famous judges, "I didn't get that."
