4.0 out of 5 stars A good little fan.
This little fan does just what I need it for. A bit of air blown right at me sometimes while sitting at my desk. It clips on very well. I even tried it on a 1/2 inch overhang and it stayed on. I would reccomend 3/4 inch if you want to use high setting and oscillation. That oscillation is of no account by the way as the fan just is not that powerful. My reason for no 5...

1.0 out of 5 stars A piece of JUNK!!! NO STARS!!
The button on the fan that makes the fan head turn BROKE the same day I took it out of the box. The fan head will almost turn to the left but just before it is susppose to start back it gets stuck and makes a clicking noise. The fan's highest speed setting is not as high as I thought it would be, with the lowest speed setting I can barely feel it.

My reason for no 5 stars is the vibration. There is too much especially on high speed. This could have been solved with more and better padding on the clip. It doesn't bother me but might others. The cord is coiled nicely to stay out of the way but has a good stretch. I needed to reverse the blow direction of the fan. This was easily accomplished by removing and replacing only one bolt.
All in all very good for my uses. If you need just a bit of air in a tight space this one's for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars great deal, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Holmes HACP9 Oscillating 2-Speed Clip-On Fan (Kitchen)
i had this fan all during college and my first year of grad school. my exboyfriend kept it so i don't know whether it survives to this day, but for 5 years it put out great cool air even if i had it on all day it was fine. around year 5 the clip-on clip broke, but it still held together well enough to use. i would buy this fan again. it's very powerful for such a little thing, and it's cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fan, no complaints so far!, November 2, 2006

I purchased 2 of these fans over 3 months ago; one to use at work, the other to use at home. Both fans have been working great for me.

At my office, our company has taken on an attitude that everyone should be easily accessible, so there are no cubicles or separations for individuals to be able to control their own area. It's an entirely open office space environment, with over 200 people on the floor and desks about 3 feet apart. The problem is that the floor's temperature controls never seem to be able to get my area to a comfortable level. I needed some extra air flow around my desk. This fan's breeze on even the low setting keeps me cool, even when the floor's temps get a little uncomfortable. I am a programmer who has to stare at an LCD monitor all day, so having the oscillation is nice because I don't get a totally constant breeze blowing on me that would otherwise dry out my eyes.

In over 3 months using both fans, they have worked perfectly. Both fans have been very quiet; providing a sufficient breeze, and so far seem to be built rather sturdy! I have had no problem with the holding clips either. For the price and how well they have worked for me so far, I can easily recommend them to others to try.

I love this fan! I've had several of them, over the years, which I've used extensively.
My only problem with the fan is that the clip breaks easily, so if you plan on moving it often, be aware that the plastic clamp on the bottom will eventually crack.
On the other hand -- I have one, on which the clip broke quite some time ago, that I've clamped to a shelf by other means, and after more than eight years of daily use the motor is still going strong.
The front is easy enough to take off for cleaning purposes, just take care not to dislodge the motor while cleaning the fan blades, or it won't run properly afteward.
All in all -- a great little fan. I couldn't live without mine! Just take care in how you handle it, and it will last you for years.

Great fan for the price, all the previous reviews pretty much cover it, but I though I'd add that the "neck" is multi-segmented which makes it easy to get this fan to point/oscillate anywhere you want it regardless of what its clamped to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Osilllating Clip Fan, April 2, 2007
This review is from: Holmes HACP9 Oscillating 2-Speed Clip-On Fan (Kitchen)
It was bigger than I thought. The cord is long enough for me. The Clip is very sturdy and can grip a thick surface. The two speeds are handy. However, it has lighter output than expected. I like the adjustable angles it can make. I have no regrets buying this fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work well, March 31, 2008
This review is from: Holmes HACP9 Oscillating 2-Speed Clip-On Fan (Kitchen)
The low speed stopped working a short while after I bought it--so it's either high speed or nothing. And then the side-to-side adjustment (if not in oscillating mode) gets stuck a lot and won't allow adjustment. This is just not a quality piece of merchandise.

If you're looking for a fan which can really move some air, this is not your fan. My $9 6-inch fan from Walmart blows more air. Additionally, this thing is heavy for it's size and takes up a lot of room when considering how little air it moves. One of the very few good features is that it seems to be really sturdy and well built and not made from cheap materials. It's also quite versatile, you can turn and bend the fan to blow in just about any direction. But the negatives severely outweigh the positives so move on and look for another fan.

I wasn't satisfied with this fan. I thought the oscillation would be a good plus, but the breeze it produces just isn't strong enough. I returned it and bought the Holmes HACP7W 7-Inch Clip-On Personal Fan which I'm very happy with.
