Shocked at how quiet it is!,

The only reason I did not give this item 5 stars is the cord is a bit too short for my desk arrangement and I didn't like the clip style although it works fine and appears quite sturdy. The real surprise was how wonderfully quiet it is even at high speed. It supplies just the right amount of airflow to combat stuffiness and not disrupt loose papers on your desk. In hindsight I wish I'd bought one of these when I started getting hot flashes. Please note you can turn off the oscillating feature by pulling up the top button. At this price point for this quality, I'm very pleased.

I bought this to replace a 15 year-old clip-on of the same size. For $25, I expected something better. This fan has two speeds, but the "high" setting only blows about as much air as the "low" setting on my old fan. Since the high setting on my old fan was just right for me, this new one is underpowered and seems weak by comparison. The only "advantage" this one has over my old one is that this one oscillates, but I've never found that function useful. A much better feature would be a third, even higher-speed setting so this fan would be as powerful as my old one.

Fan get the job done,

The fan is small, yet not very compact. It doesn't move a whole lot of air, but keeps me comfortable enough as a desk fan. Originally I wanted to use it in a laundry room that gets hotter than the rest of the house, but it just didn't move enough air. Overall the fan is pretty good. I did have some trouble with the arms not supporting the weight of the fan head at certain angles, but I wasn't picky about the fan positioning, so not a big deal. The power cord is the phone-type that's curled up like a spring, but fully extended it is a bit short, on the other hand it does stay out of the way, so that point has both possitives and negatives. The clip is big, strong, and rubber padded; probably the fan's best quality.
Overall, a decent quality fan that does what its supposed to, but don't expect it to move air in even a small room. It needs to be fairly close to you if you want to feel it pulling any heat off you, which is the whole point of a fan.

Very little air,

The fan is ok but it really does blow surprisingly little air for its size. The bulk of the motor case is the oscillating mechanism, the actual motor is tiny.

I would say this is a small to medium sized fan. It's a bit hard to tell in the picture nor did I measure it when I bought it...but I took the risk! I like it and didn't expect much out of it considering it was a desk fan. It's really neat how you can clip this fan on a desk and it clings on pretty tight. It oscillates left and right directly towards you or you can adjust it facing upwards swinging left and right so it circulates the air instead of blowing right at you when you're sitting at the desk. It does the job of keeping the room cool and I would recommend!

Quiet, but hardly any power.,

This little fan is quiet. The clip is fairly strong and should hold onto most surfaces. However it moves very little air, and even on high it is hard to tell if it is even turned on. There aren't too many options out there for clip-on fans, but I would avoid this one unless you only want a very gentle breeze. Another problem I encountered, is that if you mount the fan in certain inverted positions, the oscillating motion gets 'stuck' on one of the fan guard tines. I removed the offending plastic tine with a knife. In the end, this fan ended up in the closet unused. The severe lack of power simply makes it unusable for most applications.

I saw the reviews left by others about the problems with this model not working over time. I thought it was just a couple isolated cases and thought that the majority of the good reviews was a clearer picture of the quality. I ordered the fan hoping for the best. The size of the fan was exactly what I was looking for. The package got here today, I took the fan out, plugged it in, turned it on and........NOTHING! Brand new straight out of the box this piece of junk does not work! I see now that the bad reviews are the truthful ones!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!! If a brand new one does not work right out of the box, why should I believe that this fan would be reliable if I did get one that worked from the beginning. If you are looking for a throw away piece of junk, order this fan and you can use if for a paper weight if nothing else. If you can recommend a good fan of this size, please comment with the name on this review. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!

This fan is good quality, but the oscillating function draws a fair amount of power thus lowering the fans output.
If you are considering this for a grow tent because of the oscillating feature, don't waste your time. When this fan is clipped to a bar in a corner the fan will click while oscillating because it does not have enough room to move its full range. Overall this fan would be good for clipping on a desk or a hutch in a office, but doesn't have enough power to cool you off on a really hot day.

Works fine, not too noisy,
This review is from: Holmes HACP9B-U Oscillating 2-Speed Clip-On Fan (Kitchen)
I bought this fan mostly to cool the bedroom at night during our occasional spells of hot weather here in the Pacific Northwest. It works fine to that end. The volume of air moved is adequate, though significantly less than the fan I used previously. However, in its favor, the oscillation of this fan spreads the air around better and it is much quieter, though by no means silent. The difference between the speeds is marginal so I just use it on high. The clamp works well, allowing me to securely attach the fan to the frame of the sliding window, a much better option than the previous fan which balanced uneasily on the sill. I would buy this product again and would recommend it for those who have moderate cooling needs.

Works well quiet, but doesn't move much air,

Extraordinarily quiet, but it doesn't move much air. Two speeds, but they don't make much difference in the sound or volume of air moved. Good in an office environment. Well made product.
