5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Hot, Hot!
I purchased this heater to warm my office at school...the nuns won't turn on the radiators until you can see your breath...inside the building! I have 13 foot ceilings in this office and it keeps it toasty. I've been very pleased with it's performance, especially since I paid only $9.95 for it! The fan feature comes in handy, as there is, of course, no air...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the HFH104
These portable electric heaters are small in size but have given off ample heat when needed in a pinch in those early morning hours when trying to get kids out the door for school.

Since I was already familiar with the model HFH 104, that I sold over the summer on eBay, I figured the model HFH 105 would be similar. They both have the two heat settings of 1000...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the HFH104, October 24, 2004
These portable electric heaters are small in size but have given off ample heat when needed in a pinch in those early morning hours when trying to get kids out the door for school.

Since I was already familiar with the model HFH 104, that I sold over the summer on eBay, I figured the model HFH 105 would be similar. They both have the two heat settings of 1000 and 1500 watts and the power light plus a fan only setting. Also included in both models are the auto safety shut-off and the cord wrap.

The carry handle and cord wrap are easier to utilize in this model of the Holmes Portable Electric Heater, HFH 105. It is advised not to use an extension cord unless you absolutely have to, and with limited electrical outlets in the duplex we reside in I have to use extension cords through out the house. I have only utilized these heaters in the living room and for limited time in the morning and evening hours.

This is a compact design, but it resembles a flimsy version in a dark drab gray shade. The switch is located on the right side and turns from fan to low and high heat setting. This unit has been tested beyond the UL standards and comes with a booklet showing ten safety tips for use and care of the heater. This is similar to the other version. Basically the heaters should not be used in bathrooms or outdoors and nothing flammable should be near it or bedding or curtains. The cord should not be placed under a rug and do not insert any foreign objects into the unit.

The fan setting worked very well giving off some cool air and tricked my son into thinking heat was coming out. I was not as satisfied when making the purchase the first few days with the heat output compared to the HFH 104 unit. That model seemed to heat the room quicker and more efficiently. The pedestal base is flimsy on this unit and appears cheaply made. This unit was always placed flat on a surface intended for such items. There would never be any other items on the same table as the heater when it was turned on.

This is cheap, easy to carry, but smells like smoke when you first turn it on.

I use this in my office to keep warm (even in the summer -- they set the thermostat at 68 degrees), and I love it. It is a little louder than I had hoped, but am getting used to it and it kind of drowns out the surrounding office noise. It works really well for my 10 x 10 ft office!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little heater, October 28, 2008
This review is from: Holmes HFH105 1500-Watt Portable Electric Space Heater (Kitchen)
First I got one Honeywell surround heater which kind of disappointed me because of the lack of airflow. After a little while I got this and I was happy with this. Keeps my room nice and warm.

Pros:
- Nice heating power.
- 2 heat and 1 fan mode.
- Thermal cut-off (or something like that).
- Good airflow.

Cons:
- No thermostat.
- No tip over protection or other safety features (except one mentioned).
- Little too loud.
- Doesn't seem to stand very sturdy (not good if you have kids around).

Overall this is a good product and I would recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT LITTLE HEATER FOR THE MONEY, January 4, 2009
I bought this heater for my son's room downstairs where he has a large slider that lets in the draft. It kept his whole room warm throughout the night and he is very happy with it. Now he is back at college and I am using underneath my computer desk, which is also downstairs and gets a draft, it warms up the whole area. It does not get super hot, even at the higher temperature, but I find that it is enough. The one downside is that tips over too easily, the base should be wider to totally support it. I'm sure it is fine on a hardwood floor, but I have always used it on a carpet. It does have automatic shut off for safety, but it is annoying to have it fall backwards. I now prop it lightly against something and it is fine. I paid $18 for it at Kmart, and you can't go wrong at that price, but keep in mind the possible "tipping backward" factor!

I bought this for my cube at work and just putting it on the low setting heats it up fast. The only bad thing is that it is loud

I use the heater in the office. It's an excellent size for under the desk and puts out much heat. However, its noisey.

5.0 out of 5 stars 15 year Heater, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Holmes HFH105 1500-Watt Portable Electric Space Heater (Kitchen)
I bought this heater in 1994. It has kept me warm on the coast and in the Sierra's. It has been dropped countless times and keeps on working. It heats up smaller rooms fast and will heat up a larger room but takes awhile. It is finally on it's last leg because it fell (again) and now will only blow warm air. I believe I paid 12 dollars for this in '94. I am thinking I'll replace it with the same kind.
