4.0 out of 5 stars Great Rotating Heater
I have this heater in my office at work and I had one at home. It is perfect for warming a nice sized space. My work office is about 10x10. At home I used it in the guest bedroom or my master bedroom if I didnt want the central heat on. I love that it rotates. With all the different heat settings you will find one that works for you. 1.0 out of 5 stars Heater quit
I bought this heater in late November of 2010. In quit working mid February of this year. I notice a small melted spot on the back of the unit right above the cord. If you have this product, be careful!

At home I used it in the guest bedroom or my master bedroom if I didnt want the central heat on. I love that it rotates. With all the different heat settings you will find one that works for you. I'm buying another because I lent my home one to my parents and they plugged it into an outlet with about 10 other appliances, the breaker popped and burned the circuitry. (Not the fans fault). I would recommend to a friend.

These space heaters are great. I had bought one last year and I bought another one recently so each of my kids had one for their bedroom. They have a safe UL rating too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Noisy, annoying 1-button control, no safety features, September 28, 2010

We bought the Holmes heater based on the fact that it was one of the few space heaters with good reviews. I was expecting something much larger, but I suppose that's my fault for not reading all the specs. It's probably not a bad heater if you specifically need something that's ultra-portable or which won't take up much storage space in the closet. This heater is okay for heating a very small room (10'x10' or smaller) or for keeping your feet warm under your desk, but for any other application, you're better off getting something else.

At first it was relatively quiet, but after one winter, it's now very noisy. On the low setting, the heating element makes a loud noise. On the high setting, the heating element is quiet, but the fan is really noisy.

There's only 1 button which cycles through 12 settings. It's really annoying when you just want to change from LO to HI (or vice versa) and you have to cycle through half a dozen settings to get there.

The thermostat can be off by as much as 10 degrees.

Although I knew this heater didn't have any safety features when I purchased it, I wouldn't buy it again. At the very least, I would recommend getting a heater with a timer--or, if you have pets or children, one with a tip-over sensor.

We live in the Northeast. The treadmill we use for exercise is located in a 10x10 corner of our unheated basement. We needed to add heat in some way to make that area more comfortable during the winter months. This Holmes space heater has worked surprisingly well in accomplishing that. The built in thermostat is a nice feature, and it's not unusual for the it to shut itself down before a workout is completed. We'll likely buy another one as we get rid of more of our junk and open up other spaces down there.

I purchased the heater for an unfinished basement room (approx. 12x15) with no heating ducts. It gets pretty cold in winter. After putting the fan setting on high, the room gets comfortable in about 5-10 minutes.

Well. I actually bought one of these two years ago and recently it began blowing fuses no matter what outlet we plugged it into. So it's in the garbage can. It worked "okay" but I've already ordered another brand. It did a good job of keeping my garage a little warmer, but I did not care for the way you have to program this thing. It takes several button presses where you have to cycle through all these choices before you get to the choice you want. If you make a mistake then you have to start all over and cycle through all the choices again. . It's kind of a dumb design from that perspective.

Bottom line: Try another brand.

I've had this heater for a couple of weeks now and it works great! It's still below freezing in the mornings where I live and we keep the heat off at night to save energy. When I wake up, it's straight to the home office and I turn the unit on to High. It puts out so much heat that I'm all warmed up in no time. The oscillator works great, but I prefer to keep a steady stream of air on me! The controls are very easy to use. I've heard of lots of heaters overheating and shutting off. This one hasn't done that at all! It's a great little size to heat up a small room and the price is excellent! I would definitely purchase this unit again!

Works fairly well but does not spread the heat very far and the themostat cuts off when the air very close to the unit is warm. For a large bathrrom, this unit is not powerful enough even when set on "high".
