I quickly ran back to the faucet to turn off the water and worked diligently to open up the clogged outlets.

The nozzles on this evap system do not spray an evaporable mist rather a spray you could water flowers with.

...and that's about it. We have had ours in a greenhouse, where it operates about 8 hours a day in the summer - only on hot days. We've gone through 2 of them so far. Each one barely made it to the end of September.

While there is nothing to fail as far as the mister goes, the fan motor just dies. We also have cheap little circulating fans that have lasted for years in the same location running 24/7 if the sun shines. Go figure.

Unfortunately, they're about the only game in town. For a patio I would suggest it wholeheartedly! It has to be HOT to take advantage of it, otherwise you'll just get wet. It puts out oodles of mist for a fair distance. For those sweltering days, it will be a cool and appreciated relief. Just don't count on it to last - and I guess at this price it's worth it. I'm still getting another one. YMMV.

I bought one of these fans to use on our screened in porch. The nozzles put out way too much water...everything was soaked. We bought fine mist nozzles and replaced the ones that came in the fan. Made a huge difference. The fine mist evaporates much faster..still gets things wet but not nearly as much. Am happy enough with it to order another one since we have a very large porch.

After using this fan an hour or so a day for less than 60 Days it was Great. Then the one of the four Mister Heads became clogged and now here I am chasing down parts. I would not suggest this fan in anything but the lightest use and Perfect Mountain Spring Water. Here in Las Vegas the water is very hard and I had the same problem with their misting tube that attaches to the house. Again another Holmes exercise in frustration with holes in my stucco I had to patch when I took it off. Overall the products I've purchased from Holmes seem to have the quality that lasts a weekend.

I was searching for a misting fan that could cool our porch via evaporative cooling on the hot dry California summer days. The Holmes Misting fan seemed to be one of the few options available so I decided to try it out. The adventure begins when you open the box. Thy Styrofoam packaging is such that you must tear the box apart to get to the fan. Once open, the fan goes together quickly though you quickly realize that the fan itself is little more than a cheap plastic rotating fan but alas the water isn't hooked up yet. Certainly I assumed I could overlook the ugly for the soft mist that it would spread to cool off the 95 degree air. I attached the water and the misting feature to the front of the fan and turned it on again. I was greeted by the unpleasant spray (not mist) of water from the 2 of 4 working sprayers. I quickly ran back to the faucet to turn off the water and worked diligently to open up the clogged outlets. After much effort 3 of the sprayers worked but even at the lowest water setting I could manage from my hose, I could not get the fine mist one assumes the system will produce. Back in the remnants of the box and returning for a refund.

Pro's: Great as an extremely expensive garden watering system (basically it's like having your drip sprayer hooked to the front of a cheap fan)
Con's: Flimsy, bad design, Terrible water regulating ability, ugly, poor packaging

The Holmes fan works but the misting system is a total mishap, the misting system simply did work. The nozzles neither misted nor drizzled water after 30 seconds. The company is no longer stocking the fan nor parts. Thankfully the parent company offered me a new fan, different manufacturer, without having to suffer inconvenience by sending anything back. I bypassed Amazon's returns system and went directly to the parent company that supplied the fan. Got a better deal than Amzon's return policy.

We returned this item. You are not able to control the water feed. It doesn't mist; it sprays and everything gets soaked. Don't waste your time or money. The bad thing about Amazon is it cost me $15 to return it when it clearly didn't perform as advertized. This is the 2nd time I've gotten clipped by Amazon on something like this. From now on if it ain't free returns on stuff like this I'll stick to bricks and mortar. It was a big pain in the as_. I saw one of these listed for $450. Now I know why. So it's kinda my fault for thinking I could get one on the cheap.

Doesn't spray the water like I thought it would. The fan itself works fine, but not with the water. It was too much money for what you got.

The misting feature worked for about a minute and a half until the "hosing system" blew out and shot a stream of water straight into the air. Attempts to put it back together result in the same. Maybe some glue would work? Very cheaply made. A lot shorter than I thought it would be. After the misting feature broke, I am left with a mediocre fan. Don't be a fool like me. Stay away from this POS.
