4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a $16.60 fan!
I bought this fan at Walmart. In fact, I bought two window fans because I didn't think this fan would be worthy. I got home that night around 11:45pm. It was 81 degrees in the house, but outside it was nice and cool. I set it up and it really pulled the cold air in. The temp dropped to 73 with the fan on. Nice.

My windows are new casement type windows...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good item for the price
The fan is a very basic model.
Pros
- Easy to install and comes with a side panel to block the window opening
- Cheap
- Can be used for venting as well as getting air in
Cons
- A little noisy for the air that it pushes through (relatively low CFM for the noise level)
- Twin fans cannot be controlled independently
- Venting...

It was 81 degrees in the house, but outside it was nice and cool. I set it up and it really pulled the cold air in. The temp dropped to 73 with the fan on. Nice.

My windows are new casement type windows and this one fits perfectly. It has a extension that will make it longer and at the other end, there is a pull out extension that will make it even longer.

I'm returing the other one which is a HAWF2026 - it just doesn't have the extra extension and the adjustable one (doesn't have any of them).

I really wished they put a more powerful motor in these, but for the price it's not bad. If there is a more powerful one I'll buy it. I'll give it a 4 star because it's not powerful enough, but it works great!

BTW, I do have AC in the house, but why use AC when the outside air is chilly already!

5.0 out of 5 stars MY HOME EXHAUST FAN, December 27, 2008
This review is from: Holmes 7 Twin Window Fan, HAWF2021-U (Kitchen)
I bought this thinking that it can be used as an exhaust fan for my kitchen. I don't like the smell of food inside the house so I gave this a try. It has two fan settings which in my opinion is a good option. Operational sound is quite loud but it works pretty well by circulating the air in the kitchen and removing that awful smelling fumes. Price is reasonable.

Holmes HAWF2030 Twin Window Fan with Comfort Control ThermostatMy bedroom was really hot and stuffy and I was not sleeping good due to this, so I ordered the twin fan. I don't see that it is very noisy at all, but it is well worth the money and then some. Has high and low and you can also turn it around and pull the hot air to the outside. I don't have to turn on the a/c yet as the temps have still been low, thus saving on the bill. I would tell anyone who has a air moving problem to buy and try. I am so pleased with it and can sleep now. Would rather pull up the blanket instead of tossing it off and burning up. Good product and buy.

Very simple to setup...

Uses just under .5 Amps @ Low, and about 3/4ths Amp at High speed.

Far more cost efficient than using a window air conditioner when it's already cooler outside.

Bought 2 of them from Amazon... seemed like a decent price... and I'm very happy with them so far.

Several months later, they generally seem to fall apart and one or both of the fans stop working due to likely too much moisture. If you're attentive enough to take them out of the window before it rains it'd probably last longer.

I bought this fan to vent out some of my cigar smoke in the room where my computers are and it works great. I recommend it.

The product description says this fan accommodates a window up to 36" wide. This is not true. The actual product accommodates windows up to 33.25" wide. This is confirmed in the product manual. It can be made to accommodate larger windows but this requires purchase of additional extender panels from the manufacturer, for $5 + shipping for each 4.25" extender panel

4.0 out of 5 stars Best choice for your money's worth, October 3, 2008

Holmes 7 Twin Window exhaust fan is exactly what I had imagined for a $16.99 fan. Simple functions and compact size that fits my window. The noise may be a little loud and 3 feet wire may be a little short. Most houses don't have outlets near windows so extension cords may be a must have accessory. The bottom line is, it is the most inexpensive fan I can find that fits my window and it does the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, July 8, 2010
This review is from: Holmes 7 Twin Window Fan, HAWF2021-U (Kitchen)
The pros and cons of this fan can be easily summed up:

Pros:
1) Cheap
2) Easy to install.
3) Very strong, even on the low setting. I have this fan set up behind me in a back window 20 ft away and I can still feel the air, and that's on the low setting. The house is hot after a hot day and during the evening I set this up to blow the cool night air into the room. The air is so deliciously cool that it feels like air conditioning, in fact better because it doesn't have any air conditioning air smell, just sweet fresh night air.

Cons:
1) Noisy. It doesn't rattle or shake or anything, it's just that it has a powerful motor and it's the noise of the motor and the air swishing through. The noise is like living next to a waterfall, after a while I don't even think about it.

Summary:
I certainly have no complaints. It's cheap and does what it was advertised to do very well. The set up was easy and it's not a big deal for me to reverse the fan to vent. In fact, I wish I bought two of them so I could put them on opposite windows to really circulate the air in and out of the house.

A floor fan doesn't do anything more than circulate the warm air that's already in the house. I use to have a box fan that I set up in the window but this fan is much, much better. Highly recommended. I deducted 1 star for the noise but the low price more than makes up for it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of electricity, May 13, 2011

They used to advertise this as a reversible fan. That's when I ordered mine (when it cost a lot more). It is not reversible. You can remove it out of the window, & turn it the other way. In that sense, almost ANY standard fan is reversible.

It doesn't blow very much. The motor, blades, & housing design are very inefficient. For what little it does, it wastes too much electricity.

It's difficult to tell which end is the intake, because the intake also blows some air back out. I'll guess almost half the air it sucks in is getting blown right back out the intake due to poor blade & housing design.

I have a 4" computer/equipment style fan mounted on a window screen that draws 10 watts. It blows more air than this fan. There are many other fans out there for around the same price that are much better.

Even a slight breeze going in the opposite direction will overcome this fan. That is, the breeze will blow right through the fan the wrong way. I'm not talking wind storms, just a slight breeze the wrong way renders the fan useless.

This is the worst Holmes product I ever owned. It runs, not too expensive, but really doesn't do very much.
