Holmes replacement filters for HM485-U2

Amazon.com

Holmes ultrasonic humidifiers add moisture to indoor air, thereby decreasing the susceptibility to illness and common colds that breathing dry air can cause. This UH311 replacement water purification filter not only traps impurities but features an antimicrobial barrier by Microban that inhibits mold, mildew, and bacteria growth inside the humidifier. The filter measures 4-1/4 by 3-1/4 by 1-5/8 inches and fits Holmes models HM461, HM460/460B, and HM455, HM480, and HM485. --Ann Bieri

When these filters became virtually unavailable a few years back I tried soaking the old one one I had in vinegar every time I did a major cleaning of the humidifier, on the theory that the vinegar will reinvigorate the filter by dissolving the minerals which have been captured by the filter. It seems to work - we have had no white dust problems with the filters so treated, and have so cleaned that one filter several dozen times now.

This filter costs more than the humidifier does. It's a "racket"...because we can't buy these filters at stores, this is the only location so they can jack up the price. I am disappointed that the price is so high for such a small part.
Edited to add: The filter clogged up within a month and now the humidifier is not usable. Such a rip off. Buyer beware!!

when arrived the filter was the correct one but had a $2.00 price sticker on it and the price I paid was $35.00. The filter was obviously old in that the box it came in was well worn. Filter seems to be working. Maybe the sticker should have been taken off? This must have been purchased in a garage sale even tho it had not been used.

exact replacement. frequent filter changes keep humidifier running efficiently. i use filtered water rather than tap water which really extends change cycle

It has long been discontinued. The good news: it was available (and new). The bad news: they wanted an arm and a leg and an arm for it.
