My son's school uses this book. It's full of distractions and barely-on-topic information. The pages are crushed full of extraneous information in bright, attention grabbing colors and patterns, including lots of exclamation points. The overall organization of this book is scattershot, making it hard to root out the real information from the brightly colored mostly-irrelevant pictures and text. Plus, there are countless examples of GEOMETRY IN REAL LIFE!!! They're called LiNK, Who uses this?, Engineering application, CONCEPT CONNECTION, Why learn this?, and California Standards. Phew! These things are everywhere, and every one of them has a bright icon or a picture (such as a puppy or a penguin or a hero riding a horse) guaranteed to grab the student's attention away from the topic at hand. Sure, it's important to show real examples of why geometry is important, but this book goes so far overboard, it literally drowns in this stuff. Just as bad, a lot of the problems ask the students to do the same thing over and over again --- it's all very straightforward. There aren't enough problems that ask students to think about what they've learned an apply it in a new way. This book really won't ask your child to stretch his abilities because there aren't many real challenge problems (and not even enough medium-level problems). To be honest, I don't know how anyone can learn much of anything from this book. We use an older edition of McDougal-Littell's Geometry at home (Geometry, Grades 9-11: Mcdougal Littell Geometry). I highly recommend that book over this one.

This book is well organized and presents all the california standards for geometry. The examples are worked out well and all the theorems and postulates are indexed in the back. There are additional pages for SAT test prep and using technological tools like ti-calculators and excel out of class!
Fortunately this is my son's issued school book and I used it to prepare for the Calfornia CSET Subtest 2. I wished I would have spent more time in the very last chapters (tranformations) - but if you can go through this book - it would complete all your geometry preparation. Holt has this book and exercises shown with comprehensive videos online for every worked example - but I'm not sure how you would access this part without a password. Holt may provide but my son's link was provided through the school. I also recall that the odd numbered exercise answers are located in the back.
