This lamp looks great - the high quality is obvious. Good strong light when you need it, dimmable with a touch, easy to adjust position of light. Before buying this I tried out a number of different reading floor lamps in stores and found that most were not as bright as my aging eyes needed, and some were not easy to adjust to the right position while sitting. This lamp is good on both counts. The bulb does throw out a lot of heat when it's on full blast, but I would rarely need it that bright. I am very happy with this product.The picture confused me a bit about the size and shape of the shade. The shade in the picture is rotated 90 degrees from normal position, so that the top of the shade is facing the viewer and the bulb is facing away. When the bulb is facing down, the shade is 1.5" tall, not 6.5" as it appears. I hope this is clear.

I love this lamp. It is so adjustable and beautiful to look at and heavy enough to not tip over
