5.0 out of 5 stars Good layout for Kindle
This version has a great table of contents that allows you to easily get to the book and chapter you're looking for. This allows you to navigate as quickly as a non-touchscreen e-reader will allow for. You can get to where you want to go pretty quickly on the Kindle; and even faster on an iPod Touch/iPhone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bible reading use, January 16, 2011

I just downloaded this Bible on my new Kindle after reading the reviews of the various bibles offered. Therefore, I knew beforehand that it was limited in the options i was looking for, but seemed the best for the choice of translations i wanted. The main problem i find in locating Bible passages is that once you are on a page, you don't have any indication which book or chapter you are in. this is a problem if you are skipping around in more than one passage. also, if you use the word search option, you get the "location" number...which means nothing as far as which book &/or chapter in the Bible where the word is located. Because i know the Bible very well, i can scan the passage and then make a good guess as to which is the passage reference i'm looking for, but of course, i would have to have the entire Bible memorized to know for sure...in which case, i would not even need an e-bible to read from!
i do think that locating a passage using the table of contents and then chapter is workable, so i am glad i bought this version. i just hope that in the future, someone will come up with a format that is more practical for Bible reading and study,.

The publisher made this version as Kindle friendly as I think is possible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Navigation is lousy, December 28, 2010
This review is from: Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible (NASB 1977 edition) (Kindle Edition)
Navigating through this version of the Bible is bad. I really like the NASV of the Bible, but finding book, chapter and verse quickly is impossible with this Kindle version. And if you open to your last held position, you don't have the book or chapter displayed on the screen. In my case I had to back page 2 or 3 pages to find out which book and chapter I was reading.

Based on the other reviews here at Amazon, this is the easiest to navigate in Kindle. It's still difficult for me though. My biggest problem is that I have to spell out each book every time I need to search. Unlike other versions, you can't use abbreviations here. That's quite easy if you're looking for Mark 2 but when you need to jump to Deuteronomy or Zephaniah or Thessalonians or any other longer and not-so-common names, your search could turn in zero results if you don't spell correctly. If you're like me, you're probably used to writing abbreviations so this would take longer to get used to.

Also because of the limitation of the Kindle keypad, it's quite difficult to navigate around books and verses. I just wish they put links somewhere that would enable readers to jump by chapters and by books, like what they did at [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daily Bible, February 12, 2011

I use this Bible daily. I started using the NASB after taking Greek in Bible college. I got my Kindle specifically to use for Bible reading/Bible study (it is my main use, but I love it and now use it for all kinds of reading). This is the Bible I use daily for my Bible reading. I have other free Kindle versions that I use during church, just to look something up quick, easier versions for use with kids, etc. I use this one just for my daily reading, and then I always have my place there waiting for me when I go to read again. It is easy to get around in if you just go back to the table of contents. Pretty simple and basic, just the NASB version of the Bible, works great on Kindle. If I just had my Kindle and this version of the Bible, it would have been a purchase well worth it. Love it. I also love taking notes in my Kindle Bible - awesome. Love it.

The formatting is very good, with an active table of contents. My main complaint is that the citations are not interactive. I have read many other books on my kindle where you can click on the citation and it takes you to the reference at the back of the book. I have read zombie books with this feature !

If you are looking for a literal Bible translation for your Kindle, this is the one to get. I prefer the NIV for daily reading, but for a literal comparison, I prefer the NASB over the ESV.

Can this edition be brought up on screen in colum form, with a seperaye bible (in a different) language brought up in a side-by- side columb? I previously had bibles like this on my i-pad, but now they are gone.

I was pleased to find this edition of the Holy Bible while browsing the Kindle bookstore. Any student of the Bible that wants a good version to work with will not go wrong with this one. I was very surprised at the very modest price of just $1.99

4.0 out of 5 stars easy navigation, April 14, 2011

This review is from: Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible (NASB 1977 edition) (Kindle Edition)
I found this verison of the bible to be easily navigated. However when word or phrase searching I wish it showed the book and chapter instead of just the location number. It's rather hard to tell in which of the 66 books the selected word or phrase is found especially if it is a more common word.
