This is a wonderful version of the Bible for people who have difficulty with the old King James, or for people just beginning to read the Bible. It maintains much of the poetic beauty of the old King James, while still making it easier for many people to understand. It follows the old translation closer than any of the other modern translations. It's the bible I give to people I'm witnessing to or friends who are new christians. It's also good for kids and teens.

There is no dispute that the Bible is THE WORD OF GOD. However, I was sadly disappointed upon receiving multiple copies of this book at the very small print. I cannot pass these books on to adults, my intended recipients, because as people age, they need larger and larger print fonts in order to see what's on the page. I am reluctant to pass them on even to children, because I'm not sure whether the small print will be harmful to their eyes over the long term because they will have to squint. If you want to READ THE BIBLE, then buy one with larger print. Don't buy this specimen.

I think this is a great book for whatever reason you read it, and that's one reason why it is so great. It has every genre. It's written in the simplest form possible, but there's still plenty of food for thought. It can be repetitious and balanced, but that is part of the style it's written in. It also gives an impartial view of history, a VERY rare thing. All in all, the most highly recommended book.
