I've always felt bad that I'd never been able to understand most of the verses I'd read in the Bible. If not for how many of the verses were explained and broken down in church sermons, I'd really be clueless. Several times I tried to read the KJV of the Bible verse by verse on my own, but was never really able to absorb all that I read because the language would frustrate me. Needless to say, I picked it up several times, read a little, scratched my head, then put it down. It always left me feeling confused, and I often questioned my level of intelligence -- ugh! In my quest to find a Bible I could understand, I found this. I can now understand the verses of the Bible as I read them; the events read and flow like a captivating story. I bought copies and gave them to my children to encourage them to read the Bible. Now I look forward to reading the Bible, instead of feeling like I'd been given an impossible reading assignment by my college instructor.

Many times I have tried to read the King James version of the Bible just to stop because I couldn't comprehend what I was reading. This Contemporary version is so easy to understand. It is like reading a regular book. I can read quickly and understand everything. It has helped me renew my faith and helped me with my sobriety. I recommend this to anyone who wants to feel closer to God.

This English translation of The Bible is easy-to-understand with text font that is very readable. We use these for Sunday School children and adult Bible Studies.

Some gracious person gave me my first bible and being new to reading the bible, I was a little lost and confused by the wording. I came across this version while searching for a new one. I thought this looked better and boy I was right. I could finally understand what I was reading. Thank God. The bible is now my favorite book. There is no other. Shortly after buying this bible, two of my friends asked me to order them one. Now I just received four more that I ordered. Two for my children and one for a person from work and one for a youth at Church. Thank you God.

This contemporary bible reads like a novel, no difficult words or long sentences, just easy reading. I've tried to read the bible several times, but in my language (Dutch) it is quite hard, never have found a good contemporary translation, not even the so called "youth version" kept my attention. Eventhough I am not a religious person, with this version I find myself enjoying the bible very much. What I particularly like about this one is that the chapters are divided in little parts each having their own titles, this makes it very well-organized. I would recommend this bible to anyone.

I can go on for days about this Version of the Holy Bible. I will keep it short.. It's a great version to grasp the Spirit of the Bible and get a plain and simple understanding.. Definitely milk. Once you get this Milk you can move onto solids by doing a comparative on many versions.

While for years my favorite translation was the Jerusalem Bible -- and still is in that form, not the New Jerusalem -- the C E V has become the translation I use when I pray the Daily Office from the Book of Common Prayer. I don't dislike the NRSV or others but I have reached the age (84) when I want it put to me in the clearest, plainest manner. I guess I would prefer the footnotes at the bottom of the page but that's minor. I even have a copy on a CD for use on my computer. It is a less pedestrian translation than the Good New for Moder Man (T E V).

It's inexpensive but it has the quality of a more expensive bible. This CEV bible is an easy translation of the bible. I recomend reading the cev with a NKJV bible.
a TEV bible is a good choice also if you want an easy bible version. whether you pick CEV or TEV is all on personal choice

There are many translations and paraphrases of the Holy Bible available, and there are four times as many English words in use today as in the time of the King James Version of the Bible. Yet, many young readers today have a very limited grasp of the English language, and they are certainly focused on today's language.

The Holy Bible: Contemporary English Version is a good modern translation for youth and for many adults. It is certainly better to use a translation instead of a paraphrase such as the Living Bible.
