Book Description

September 1, 2001
· Endorsement of the Roman Catholic imprimatur.
· Complete text of Good News Translation with Deuterocanonicals is accurate and easy to understand—makes the meaning of the Bible plain, even if you’ve never read it before.
· Nearly 600 simple line-drawings by illustrator Annie Vallatton highlight important passages.
· “How to Seek God” suggests first steps toward finding God.
· “Summary of the Bible” tells briefly the broad story of the Bible in its own words.
· Five-year lectionary.
· Study helps, including glossary, maps and map index, subject index and more.
The Bible shows us who God is and reveals his plans for us. It is a collection of ancient books written by various writers over many centuries. But its true Author is eternal, and its message is as relevant and powerful today as in ages past. However, the English language into which the Bible has been translated continues to change. That’s why the Good News Translation was developed. It uses contemporary language to make the Bible clear and accessible to today’s generation of readers.

The Good News Translation is:
· A true translation, meaning it was actually translated from the Greek and Hebrew languages in which the Bible was originally written.
· Accurate and reliable.
· Easy to understand—even if you’ve never read the Bible before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bible, September 7, 2004

This review is from: GNT Holy Bible, Good News Translation, Catholic Edition (Hardcover)
I have not read this entire version yet, but so far I can only rate it excellent. The commentary and introductory essays are very good, and it's set up to help new Bible readers. I don't hesitate to recommend it to both Protestants and Catholics.

4.0 out of 5 stars font is a bit small, May 23, 2006
This review is from: GNT Holy Bible, Good News Translation, Catholic Edition (Hardcover)
After reading the GNB without the Apocrypha (paper back) I suppose I was spoiled by the larger font size. The way the Apocryphal material is translated is just as clean, to the point, and easy to read as was the non-Apocryphal material was. It's just that the font is a little smaller and harder to read for those who are getting older, and whose vision is getting worse.
